How big of a deal is a backflip?

I don't get it... The kids around my area, think their impossible! I think its reasonable! I don't see a problem with it other than the commitment...

a backflip is the easiest trick out there. And obviously you live in the middle of no where if kids act like their impossible.

are frontflips easier? i want to do a backflip but i cant do them on tramps but i feel really comfortable doing frontflips and mistys on tramps and diving boards. should i try a frontflip instead?

sucks to be me i live in southern ontario( ottawa)( and there is no where to build a small jump with a soft landing, when i learn the it will most likley be on icy hard pack....................i wish i lived out west. I really want to do a backflip this year, i just need to find a good jump with lip.

You actually have to throw frontflips, backflips are way easier. You can do it, just commit.

its really scary the first time, cuz you have no idea whats going to happen, but after that it becomes pretty intuitive.

back flips are easy and can be done seriously off a jump thats like 1 1/2 tall. no joke. jus look at my pics. ive done them off jumps smaller then that. huck and fuckin tuck in that case. not a big deal once u learn them tho. there very safe, get u girls, and there one of those really basic manuvers u jus gotta learn so u can combine it with other shit to formulate bigger and better sick tricks.

I love how snowboarders can do backflips (or frontlips) off of like nothing

But yea, this guy at my mountain did one off of a two foot high jump some kids made on the bunny slope (on skis).  I think hes on NS too.

backflips tend to be very safe once ur upside down and can see ur landing. you may catch a tip then u eat shit, but u can usually get your arms our or somethin. over rotation is where the real danger is. but ya backflips are def a very safe trick

make the commitment, and float it out. definitely a crowd pleaser and a fun trick in most peoples books. all depends how fast you bring it around...the bigger the jumper. the slower your rotation needs to be

To people outside of skiing, a backflip is like a benchmark of how good you are. To skiiers though, it's not that big, it's not a complicated trick, it's just whether you got the balls to have your head under your body going through the air.

did some backflips and dumont style frontflips this weekend and they are no big deal at all...the only difficult thing in a backflip for me isn't to overrotate and land on the ass - frontflips are so much fun too but you don't see the landing during you are in the air, but you can do them on very little bumps...

I broke two vertibrae and almost died doing a backflip in brekenridge last year.  It was off a 35ish table and I overshot like crazy. The only reason I did it was to show off under the lift and I ate it hard...that really pleased the crowd.

I just don't like the idea of flying upside down. Maybe it's cuz when I was like 10 or so my friend landed on his neck when he tried one on a tramp (dunno how, but he did), and nearly broke something.
3's just seem so much safer.
I don't see myself having the balls to do a back unless there's a nice pow landing.

Where in Breck did you try it? Goldking? if so I don't think those jumps have enough kick...

and backflips are easy with a super pow landing and a jump with a lot of kicks, I haven't done them in the park yet but I plan to this year.
