Iphone question

ok so i just bought an iphone and i want to put some third party applications on it, not the web apps that apple has on thier site, but install others.. does anyboday know how to do this and if it will brick or lock my iphone, if it helps i have the latest software update on it which is 1.1.1 or sutin and it is a 8 gb.  thnx

You will NOT brick your phone.

Navigate to http://www.jailbreakme.com/ on your iphone and it will unlock your phone. It's easy and you can do it drunk.

if it does brick for some reason can i just restore it and it will be new?

It is updated for firmware 1.1.1 and you can unbrick it if it becomes bricked. Go to jailbreakme.com on your computer (not your iphone) and it'll tell you everything.
