% Body Fat

well, i got my % body fat measured today, and im very happy with the results..

last year, at this time, i was at 40% body fat..

this year however it is different.

this year, my % body fat has gone down to 25%. im very happy now

who cares if its not absolutely 100% perfect... does it really need to be? it lets you know if you're too fat, or too skinny.

well the pinch test, which is on the side of your stomach, triceps and back only cover part of your body. as for the water displacement test, what about the air in your lungs? and the handheld tests just send a current through your body, which will never be 100% accurate, since sugar or anything small can easily mess it up by a few percent. and the ones you just put in your waist size or something is just an estimation for you, the same goes for the BMI test.

i used one of those scales and it said 0 the first timea and error on the other tries... inotherwords im a toothpick

problem is that it is physically impossible to expel all of the air out of your lungs, but it makes the testing more accurate.

^^these scales dont work at all if you have less than 4% for it's reading or something like that...so basically they're pretty crappy for skinny people to use

i have had the water displacement test done and yes he is correct in saying you cant get all the water out of your lungs but you can get a pretty accurate rating. i was at 8.3% when i had it done but im 5'10 150 and play ultimate pretty much all year, still a skinny bitch though

I'm 5'11' 170 lbs. and I have 8.9%.

I've worked in a sports medicine clinic for a while and the performance enhancement specialist told me it's unhealthy to have under 2.5% body fat. Definitely want to keep your body fat between like 4-15% if you're an active guy. Obviously it's higher if you're a girl.

If you are under 16 (or even 18), don't even bother getting your body fat measured unless it's by calliper testing or water displacement. The electronic tests don't work properly. I got an error when I was in grade 9. Now that I'm old enough I can get tested and I'm 6%. I also run the 100m dash in 11.1 secs and can break the speed limit on residential streets! YAY me!

healthy for a man is 10-20%. anything below that is unhealthy. for contests body builders get down to 6-8% but that is only for the show then right after the show they start eating again and but on more fat.

Ya, definitely try and keep it over 10 unless you are getting ready for a competition. I have to get ready for the track season and I'm hitting up the beaches of Cuba in a week!

There is NO WAY that online thing works. You cant figure your body fat simply by putting in your weight and height....thats so fucking stupid to even think that you could. How dumb are you kids?

Haha, i'm super skinny and run all the time, so on our body fat scale at school it errors cause i'm under 1% body fat...
