has anyone skied this years model, they are meant to be alot stiffer than last years?

I am probably going to get the 185's. Anyone have suggestions on where to mount them, i was thinking plus 1 or 2 from the freeride mark? (40% freeride, 30% park, 30% groomers)

Despite the fact that you might not think that they are the right ski for me, i'm getting them becasue of their freeride performance and the fact that they are designed for aggressive skiers.

dude dont go for the arvs if ur an agressive skier they will still be buttery if ur going to be skiing fast n hard but still want to hit the park go for something like the vokl bridge its sick 92 mm under foot the mantra is 96 if u want something wider they are both reely nice skis, fall line just gave the punisher ski of the year 89mm or sumthing, havent riden it tho, but they are all stiff twins that rip everwhere.

yeah, get your point, punishers were my second choice, went to ellis bringham in london on the weekend to find out that they had sold out of them (wasnt going to get them) They've had very good reviews by almost everyone, probably for a reason.

i get the impression that they are going to be the seths of this year, everyone is going to have them.  Mantras are very expersive and i want something abit more substantial than bridges,

go -3 from true center....i think thats +2 from recommended if i remember correctly, someone correct me i think i may be wrong actually. but -3 from true

ya go with like -2 or so from true center...i went dead center for my arv's from 04-05, but thats cuz it will be easier for me to controll them.

Punishers aren't cold out in Brighams. We have a few pairs in the Glasgow shop and probably more elsewhere - ask them to order them for you.

maybe just in covent garden then,

as far as i am aware, they are meant to be sick, a sort of twinny mission, right or wrong, missions have been the ski of the year for a while and this year again they are up there, have you skied the arv's?
my problem with punishers is that i get the impression that alot of seasonaires will have then this year, rather like seths last year

mantras arent a twin. this yrs arv is a bit stiffer, i wouldnt say that its the best ski to be ripping lines, but for some powpow, park and cruising its great.

Yeah, pretty much a twintip Mission (same dimensions) and a little softer I think. Not skied Punishers yet because our demo got sent somewhere but had a few indoor runs on the Mission which felt solid and smooth.

I haven't skied ARVs either because it's not in our normal demo range (probably getting to try them next week though). It does feel incredibly soft by hand but I've heard it doesn't ski as soft as you think it would, but still fairly soft.

Worried that too many people will have them? It's your call if fashion plays a part in your decision. It this is going to be your do-everything ski then check out Scratch Blings, PEs, Foils and MSPs.

this years arv are significantly stiffer than last years

with respect the the fashion thing. Its not high up on the list of priorities when it comes to buying skis, although that is a reason why i will prob go with arv's.

If you do get a chance to ski them can you post me a message saying what you think of them and whether you think that they ski longer or shorter than 185

Right. Definitely check out the Bridge and Big Trouble too then - they have similar dimensions to the ARV but not as soft.

Big Troubles were my powder ski in Whistler 05/06. Very solid and smooth.

I say just go with whichever you can get cheapest out of Punishers, Big Troubles, ARV and Brigade. None are bad skis, you'll be happy on any of them.

get line invaders. they are good for you because your a hard charging freestyle skier like you say on the groomers and stuff. mount them -2 from center. thats where they are very nice.

I skied the bridge and ARV last spring and thought they skied very similar. The Bridge felt really damp. It skied well but didn't really have a whole lot of excitement to them. The ARV skied similar but just had a lot more life to them! It was mine and my other buddy's all mountain twin of the day! It is a lot stiffer than last year but still soft enough to be playful in the park. I'm not a dynastar fan but I did ski the new trouble maker that day and I just don't like the way they seem to hook up in turns for me. I'd say get the ARV's they get knocked a lot for being too soft but that's from people who've never skied them and don't know that a soft ski can still hold a really good edge on hardpack.
