I am just suprised nobody has really brought this up, well not that I have seen anyway, besides magazines etc.
I just think its sad.
Do we like snowmobiles more or do we like snow?
Last time I checked snowmobiles are pretty much worthless without snow, unless you like slushy mud. First off, I love snowmobiles, no I do not own any but have been fortunate enough to have a good friend who has taken me out a few times. The amount of terrain that can be accessed is huge, and its soooo damn easy. But, the more we ride the less snow we have in the future. I read a recent article saying, I think this is right, but every 27th snowmobile trip is a ton of green house gases, which is turn is warming up the planet cuz its stuck in our atmosphere. That may not sound like much, but with the amount of slednecks, sled-skiers, catskiing, and resort emissions we produce its no wonder were fucking up our planet.
I love snowmobiles, but I would take skiing real snow over them anyday, even if it means riding the lifts or skinning, which works just fine now.
I just think, as skiers, we should be the ones trying to protect our planet and save the snow.
I know people/resorts are making changes, but I don't think WE are doing enough, including myself. yes? no?
for those of you in utah, this should put in it perspective, can you imagine the face of superior in little cottonwood canyon having no snow on it in January? I think I would cry. kind of a wake up call, but too late.
