You've got a hill, some vertical, and snow.
It's the people and the environment that makes it distinct.

Lol, no. I currently go to college in this place called Tennessee and we have a slope with 500ft vertical that blows nut chunks.

Been west a few times to Alta/Snowbird and Jackson and its another world. There are some truely shitty mountains.

yah take it a step further...telluride vs. wintergreen, va...jesus christ, i cant wait to move...30 minute lift lines for 30 second runs, basically you have to hike park all day just to be doing something

soo true, i live in scotland and the skiing here isnt up to europe or the usa and even though i get away on alot of trips abroad some of my faviorite days have just been jibbing around gullys and droping little cliffs in 60 mph winds and total white out condidions in scotland

you can only compare mountains because of their size and that they normally have snow towards the top.

some of the mountains in scotland cannot be compared to everest, which in turn cannot be compared to some of the mountains in ak

My family and I stayed with my stepdads old roomate in colorado this year. They ski at winterpark all the time and I was telling them about my little hill and I talked about the more "advanced side" and his wife said "Oh is that the mary jane side of your mountain" needless to say I was speechless.

man ur lucky....google Brookvale PEI...250 ballin feet of vertical and mostly flat. The people taht run it don't even care enough to get a real webpage made for it. it is on part of the tourism PEI page. i am lucky to take a trip to sugarloaf or sunday river once a year. My situation has noticeably improved this year, because I'm going to school in Newfoundland, but from when i started skiing 3 years ago until this year...........

um...if you consider a 500 foot vertical hill a mountain, then sure, AK and some east coast hills can be compared just because you can label them both "mountains". But truly, some mountains just have good parks and that's all they have going for them. Some have the exact opposite, like mine. We have no park. So a 500 foot hill with no park I don't think even compares.
So no, no mountains are all the same.

550' of vertical and appreciative of it.

I ski in the rain, wind, cold nights, icy conditions. I can't imagine skiing somewhere with big mountains. The worst weather-day there would still be better than the best day ever on my mole-hill.
