Replying to School is gay

where did this idea come from that the only way to be successful in life is to go to college as soon as high schools over. its fucked up and it puts a lot of kids in a fucked up situation, furthermore, its turned our schools into shit.

i went to a nice private school, and being like the only kid in my class not going on to higher education, i got so much shit. i cant tell you the number of times people have taken me aside and given me this speech about how important education is and how its the key to happiness and blah blah fucking blah. the worst thing about it is that each of these people thinks theyre giving me this super secret super valuable knowledge when really its just a product of societal brainwashing that has no real meaning.

dont get me wrong, i think college can be very valuable to a lot of people, its a problem when kids go just to go, cause they think they have to. if you have specific goals, and you decide that you need to go to college to reach them, then you'll go and put your heart into it. most kids i see at school dont know what theyre doing there and theyre just trying to get through it and have fun and party.

as a result of this, the integrity of the educacation that a university aims to deliver has been compromised. the goal of these intitutions has changed from enlightenment to moving as many of these kids through as they can and collecting all the tuition they can on the way. with a class full of kids who dont care about what theyre learning, its impossible for an instructor to really teach the kids who care.

i probably will go to school some day, but i feel that i represent a lot of people my age when i say that right now, my interests are focused more on skiing, partying and having fun. sure, i could go do that at school, everyone does, but why not go ski bum it for a few years and then if one day i decide i wanna do something more serious, ill make a new plan. and if i dont wanna change, if im happy just working and skiing, or if i wanna do something else not involving more schoolo, whose to say i need to get myself into a high paying career. people with more money dont have less problems, they just have different ones.
