That picture would have used a slave. Beasically, you plug your flash into the hotshoe of the slave or use a pc sync cable and plug a transmitter into your camera's hotshoe. Radio slaves are a million times better than optival slaves. They can even be had for a decent price. This is a link to the one I use.
