I'm looking to get some big mountain sticks. Can get a good deal on some Armada ANTs which I know are tight skis. I'm 5'8 160 without gear, an aggressive skier and ex-racer. I also like stiff skis that like to run. Would I be able to handle ANTs say center mounted or something. Anyone similar size to me ski ANTs? Do they ski shorter than 191cm? Any opinions would be helpful....thanks
You should proabably be ok. They ski like a 191 twin, but don't measure short like volkls. They aren't as stiff as everyone makes them out to be, especially the new yellow ones. I also don't think you'd have to mount them at centre if you like your skis to run, recommended would probably be fine.
had the first gens and they were pretty damn stiff for a twin, they like to go straight and fast, but why on earth would you center them....thats just dumb, im 5 11-6ft 180 and i have to say as an everyday ski i would have prefeed something shorter, you might want to check out the gotomas also, very similar ski in more sizes
I am 5'8 155 and I absolutely love them for charging. They are a great ski to go fast on through anything, and would definately recommend them for you if you are looking to haul ass off of stuff and maintain your speed throughout your run (as opposed to billy goating around).
They ski MUCH shorter than a 191 downhill race ski... if that's what your comparison is. They are very responsive in alot of different conditions. I would not recommend mounting them at center. I've had them mounted center before, and didn't like it as much, as that is alot of tail to deal with. I've played around with it a bit, and found the sweet spot to be around -4 or -5 from center.
