Politely, shut the fuck up. It is so old.
Your harassing, douching, and cluttering of threads over a 50 dollar quarrel for a pair of bindings or two year old pants is lame.
When you have no intention of buying the product, don't say anything. Just leave the thread. When you want to buy the product, PM the seller, work out a new price on the side with them, or talk about moving the price there. If it works, the buyer will go back to their OWN thread, and update his or her price.
Telling people to drop a price by whatever amount of money, for the sake of lowering the price on their thread is stupid. Telling (usually a friend on the site) "hey man just a heads up these are selling for ___ on MORE THAN one site" is no big deal.
Nobody cares you got 916's from the way cooler guys on TGR for 150, that doesn't mean all 916's are now worth 150, and everything else price-bumps down too...no, it means you got a nice deal, and now you get the ski them and shut the fuck up.
Most of the time, if a price is just too damn high, the seller knows it anyways. Keep fair pricing in your head when you're making your sale and you'll be fine! Just poke around other places for a FEEL on how much you want to sell for.
Stop wasting posts and cluttering threads with your petty price problems.
Moral of the story: Sell at fair prices, PM your deals on the side, and stop policing prices, namely the ones you have no intention of buying.
P.S posting shop prices or your sick pro-form deal price is totally fucking lame.

THis is all true, but sometimes i would rather see a fellow NSer save some money. That is why (on the rare occasion) i do it

It isn't about saving money. It is about getting gear you want at the best possible price you can at the time, as well as getting the best possible price you can while selling a product. A balance.
And, new users, don't use what I just said as an excuse to try to flip SAC goods here at a huge mark-up, everyone is in basic total agreement on that.
P.S. selling Px12's on here doesn't mean they HAVE to be $99, because two months ago they were said price on SAC.
It isn't about saving someone else money. 90% of the deals conducted here are "deals" and "money savers" for site members anyways. The other 10% don't work, or aren't worth anyone's time.

Also on the topic of annoying buy/sell habits, STOP POSTING YOUR SHIT ALL OVER THE PICTURES SECTION. USE YOUR PRIVATE GALLERIES, ITS WHAT THEY WERE MADE FOR.

True, very true. But enough on that one for now. That is for another thread (feel free to make).
Now, back to pricing...

There have been sooo many made, I wish I could just blanket PM people so they fucking get it. Sorry to jack your thread btw, price-policing has indeed gotten out of hand. Save bitching and moaning for your regional forum, like I do.

Yes, I understand, but don't really agree. Look three or four posts up from the quoted reply.
Almost all of the sales here are deals to begin with, so you can only take helping someone out so far...and price policing does more harm than good.
I said it all in that post.
The price policing is becoming an epidemic.

I can completely relate, someone the other day someone tried to offer me 35 shipped for my jacket that was 240 when I bought it, and I thought 50 was a good deal. IF you want to make an offer, make it reasonable and PM the seller.

agreed. I used to move them more often - it is easier to just delete.

That's why I don't put prices in my threads anymore. I say make me an offer because whenenver I would put a price some douchebag would come in and say DUDE I COULD TOTALLY GET THAT SO MUCH CHEAPER.

I do my best to delete replies that are pointless and just fuck over the seller more than anything. If someone wants a good deal, it is THEIR job to look for it, no one else's.

Absolutely. Someone doesn't need to hunt down and cheapen deals for people to come to their threads AFTER the price-down has happened.
It really needs to stop, it's quite annoying. Like Snowcase said, if I sell, I put 'make an offer' now because I like to do business via PM. I hate when people try to get the highest offer before making one, just to see how lowballer they can get. I always tell them it is like eBay, you offer, and then you see the highest price. It isn't hard. You pay what you feel is a good price, then see where the price really is.

you aren't helping the seller...maybe he didn't get them item for a sale price like you did, but he's still selling them below retail, it means that your helping one side - its seems like it would be best just to leave the whole thing alone and let buyers and sellers work it out between themselves
and btw, i like this thread, it is very true

Good thread, but one question.
What if someone is flipping stuff off ebay, or other sites like that, and are trying to turn a 50$ profit?

then you should be on ebay more often

He is still probably selling a deal anyways. He got it for cheap, and if he was a good member with friends here he'd sell for the same price. If he is just a gear swapping nobody, he'll try to make money. Most people like making money, and if he's flipping, it's still probably a deal anyways.
...but there are are exceptions. We all know that. Sometimes someone is blantantly coming here to rip someone off and make their money. Those cases are rare and almost all of the sales her are deals of some sort for the buyers.

thank you! i am so done with the "oh, you can find it for this much on________" if you can find it for a lower price, buy it there and don't make fun on the seller. it could be possible that they didn't research the prices of the product. they most likely took into account how much they bought it for and how used it is. people should be stoked that we have kids from ns who are willing to cut you deals instead of way overspending...

Someone else posted this same thing on TGR like 2 weeks ago for way cheaper.
You're a ripoff.

It has gotten terrible in the past year. Even last pre-winter people were good about it. Everyone realized the little marketplace we could have here on NS, and got really carried away wit the idea they can just dump their gear here.
Now our NS Gear Swapping - Ski Equipment market is over-saturated and people are driving prices down, in a really bad fashion.
Kids could use some economics of finance classes.

The problem is that they're usually dumb fuck cheap little punks who think they deserve pro-form. No, half of retail for like-new skis is not unreasonably high. No, shipping to Norway should not be included. Pay what it's worth or leave, but in either case quit your bitchign.

while i agree with most of this. blatant flipping needs to be called out, because that is just demeaning. like they think they're pulling the wool over everyone's eyes because they bought it on ebay. its one thing if you get em at the neighborhood ski swap, quite another if you get them from the global everything swap.

Exactly. Not unreasonable at all.
It really aggrivates me when it is just obvious price bitching, because they're avatars and icons appear in every sale swap thread, giving the seller cred or trying hopelessly to take it away. 50 dollars for a ski in either direction doesn't matter that much anyways. Shut the hell up.
I wish the most notorious price-police members of NS would come in here and defend themselves, or give some petty, trite excuse on why they do it. Something like "I'm saving my brahs money, from the assfucks who are tryin 2 rip em off."
481 views of this thread, with their Ski Equipment posting habits, I'm sure they've been watching and reading this thread as it goes along.
That was an official call out. You know who you are guys.
You are not the price police, no one is, so shut the fuck up.

dont know if this has been said, but what gets me is that we are supposed to be a community, and people trying to sell stuff for wayy more than they should, trying to rip people off.

If you go into a store, garage sale, ski swap, whatever and you see a jacket for too much money, do you kick and scream at the store's owner for trying to rip people off, scream at everyone else that the stuff is too overpriced, and that you saw it sell for one hundred less at another online store...but you didn't buy it because you don't need another jacket, just trying to help your fellow skiers out? Then leave after you caused a scene? If you try to haggle the owner, you do it in a private conversation (Hello, PM's) and work on your own price there, between you and the seller. Not in front of everyone yelling I WANT IT FOR THIS MUCH I CAN GET IT FOR THIS MUCH!
Or do you chuckle to yourself, leave the store, and buy your own shit, on your own time, from where you think prices are best?
It is the latter. Shut up. Think rationally. Stop policing.

i sure as hell hope you werent directing that at me. youre going to tell me that when some dumbass is trying to sell shitty ass marker bindings for $200? i agree with you completely in this thread but honestly some people need to get called out. same goes for SAC flippers.

No, it was directed at people that harass other people in threads over price, AKA, the price police.
However, 200 dollars for a 350-390 dollar retail Maker 20 Din metal binding, with ultra wide brakes, isn't that absurd at all.
