Ypsilanti police told The Ann Arbor News they stopped the man and gave him a preliminary breath test after watching him run a red light.
Police say it registered three points more than the legal .08 drunken driven limit. They said he had his 12-year-old son in the car with him.
Police say they told the boy to call his mother to pick him up.
After she arrived with her 9-year-old daughter in the car, police said the woman was tested and was found to be legally drunk.
Both children were turned over to a relative, and the parents were held until they sobered up, according to police.
