Thread preview feature suggestion

I would just want to suggest that maybe we could benifit from a thread preview type of feature. Other forums I belong to use this and I find it very helpful. I am talking about how you can run your mouse over the title of a thread, and a small box will show with a short preview of the first 100 characters or so of the post. I allows you to browse around without having to click every thread you might be interested in. Just a thought.

Yeah I've always thought some sort of preview button would be really helpful, especially for posts or blog entries with lots of code. What I usually do, I just send the post as a message to myself if it has a lot of code and I want to make sure everything works. A preview button would be nicer.

Well, that is a good idea as well.
I think what the OP and I had in mind was a "thread preview" that showed the first post of the thread when you were in the forum topics page, so you could see what it was actually about without opening the whole thread.
Beneficial because people don't always post very descriptive and concise thread titles.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant.

I feel like a thread preview feature wouldn't usually give an accurate preview of the thread. I also don't really want lots of little preview boxes opening as I scroll down the page. And is it really that hard to open a thread to read the first few sentences?

Nah...unless it would only show the preview if you hovered the mouse over the thread for like 3 seconds or something because that would just get annoying like every thread you scroll through something would pop up. It's kind of unnecessary though.

thats actually a really good idea. That would be pretty bomb, you wouldnt have to open a thread and wait for it to load, then click back and wiat for it to load again. i mean its not that bad, but it can get kind of tiring after a while
