Preventing top sheet from peeling/flaking off? Spray somethin on?

this is NOT a PAINTING YOUR SKIS thread, there are many of those, I know, I searched them.
I'm thinking about picking up some 06/07 Ninthward LT 176's real cheap but they have a problem with the top coat 'flaking off' with normal use. Would I be able to just spray on some paint varnish or something like that to prevent that for happening, or would that just peel off too?
Thanks,
Jake

sand the edge of the topsheet where it meets the side wall a tad and it should be way harder to chip.

Topsheet chips happen with any ski that isnt a full cap. I dont think theres much you can do, save finding the chips and supergluing them back. I just file them down when they get bad so they stop spreading inwards.
