Salomon SPK Kaos's Good for all mountain too?

Hey I have heard some bad things about the Salomon SPK series because it only has two buckles. Will my foot be stable when I am out in the backcountry, or should I look for something with more support? I have some pretty severe foot pain in ski boots most of the time (paresthesia), so I am looking for a boot that won't crush my foot that I can take into the park and backcountry.

they are actually pretty stiff, and have a decent flex. Not a race performance boot, but they'll do the job if you ski mostly park. look into full tilt.

The fitter at my local shop suggested the salomon SPKs due to my foot issues, they don't have the biggest boot selection though, so I don't know where I could try on those full tilts. With my feet I definately need to try before I buy, but there aren't too many ski shops out here in Mass. I going to get fitted in about two weeks, so I'll see how they SPKs feel, but does anyone have any personal experience with them?
Thanks,
Jake

PS I also have narrow heals and wide feet towards my toes. I'm around size 11 mens in shoes if that matters. I just haven't bought boots in a few years and need some advice.

I tried them on, and the tox box is a 104 mm width, and the boots is more narrow towards the heel. like u said that is how ur foot is shaped. They are not that stiff thought, a 95 flex rating, u may want to check out another boot for stiuffness, but as for shape its pretty good for ur foot.

I have last years SPK's. I use them everywhere. I use them park, groomers and POW also backcountry. They work just fine!

what were your old boots/did you like them?
if you didn't already check out summit ski and board in framingham. not sure what kinda selection they got these days but they are pretty chill and last I checked had a good supply of park/freeride boots.

oh and to answer your question, i've got last years spks and I like them a lot for everything. they aren't super powerful for skiing out of the park obviously but they do really well considering how much people bash it for being a park boot.

He suggested them after looking at my feet for like 10 seconds. I'm going to go back in in about a week and get fitted for real. I think he also suggested them due to my foot pain since they are wider, but ya never know what will work. I just measured my foot, im like 60 mm at the heel and 99 mm at the widest point. Does that give any idea of how they would fit?
Thanks,
Jake

If you find the Kaos' too soft go to the Pro Models as they have a flex of 95.
Which is equal to the Guns whick is dope yo.

it also depends on how heavy you are. you wont need as stiff a boot if you weigh like 135 than if you weigh 180. im pretty skinny so i can get away with a softer boot. they flex fine for me and seem to do the job nicely. its all a matter of preference really. if they fit you well and flex right, go for it.

I actually do weigh 180, im 6'0'' and 20 years old, strong skier, would the flex be allright for all mountain or would they be a bit soft?

im pretty sure those chaos's will work just fine for everything. i dont think the boot matters as much for backcountry as the ski itself. i dont see how the spk could screw you up through deep snow. if anything it will help because you are more upwright so you will not have to lean back as much.

yea i'm going next week, i just wanted to get an idea if they would be the right boot for me as i've heard mixed results. and i'm pretty sure my shop doesn't carry head mojos, they have a pretty small selection

The boot is THE most important component, especially in deep, thick or variable snow. You can ski park with your boots pretty much unbuckled. Try that in Northwest powder. It doesn't work. You need the tight fit for transfer of energy and response.

Yeah I just got the Kaos at summit ski and snowboard yesterday. When I went in I was like "no way SPK," cuz Im definitely more all mtn than park but the guy helping me (who said he was not a park skier) convinced me to try them on and Im definitley happy about the buy. I weigh 140 pounds so the soft flex is obviously fine for me. As for foot problems, the boot is definitely the most natural feeling boot Ive ever worn. It fits like a sneaker in my opinion. Then again, since ur much bigger than me maybe u wanna take a look at something like the Agent 120s, summit had those in stock. However, Im sure ull be fine in the Kaos if its best physcially for ur foot.

yeah, they might be a bit soft. maybe the salomon impact 10's will be good for you, they are almost as wide as the spk but stiffer more all mountain oriented
