Anyone else finding college to be really hard like you study a shit load and actually try and you still get c's

I'm in the honors college at UVM which adds an extra class and lecture on top of a full schedule.... so it's a lot to deal with and I'm always busy, but no it isn't actually that hard.

I'm sorry but you're really not allowed to bitch about how hard college is at UVM.  My cousin was in the honors program there and cruised to a 3.7.

It really depends on your major. I'm a junior major in physics at UVM and I find school takes up pretty much all of my time.

And it depends what grades you're trying to get, cuz it takes like 10 times as much work to get A's as it does to get C's.

The official (wikipedia) definition of a university is a collection of colleges. So like the University of Michigan has the College of Engineering, College of Literature Science and the Arts, etc.

Nobody in the US (at least nobody I've encountered) says "I go to university." We just say college unless we're referencing the school we go to.

Yes college is hard. Its way harder if you're in a science or engineering major. Engineering especially, which is probably why engineering is the only field where you don't really need more than a bachelors degree to do everything.

I get shitty grades. I have a 2.6 GPA. Last semester in one of my classes I spent 80+ hours on a project that I got a 50% on. School is pretty fucking hard.

For me, being a science major, science classes are hard, but they are fun/rewarding.  Then I have a couple other classes that are just GE stuff.  Being a senior taking sociology 100, I don't go to class, I don't read the books, and I still get As on everything.  You just have to know how to bullshit correctly.

i wouldnt say that is completely true. yes it is true that it is easier to do homework when there is a study period set aside for it in the evening when everyone is doing homework. but, there is the general rule at college where you need to prepare two hours out of class for ever hour in class. well, i take 22 credits this semester (i go to west point) and there arent enough hours in the day to spend all the time you need to on classes. in addition you have to allot more time to some classes for big assignments, ie. i have a calc report due tomorrow that will probably take 6 hours tonight so i am going to have to skip prepping for my physics quiz, just as an example. so it is true your time is regimented so you dont see people blowing off all thier work as you would at civilian college but despite the fact that you are given time, its never going to be enough.

i see where you are coming from but that is also true at similarly competitive civilian universities.  that's just time management, and i think it's one of the major lessons you learn at any college, to prioritize your work.  not to mention that i have often taken exams where the class average is around 60%, so clearly you can't really learn all of the things they test you for.
