Heli coils

Oooohhhh, I can answer this one!  No. 

Helicoils are generally used when a binding rips out or when you have to drill really close to another hole.  They're not inserts in the way snowboards use them, they are merely a way of making an insufficient hole work.

to demo bindings? or are there any other ways to go about this w/o having 2 pairs of skis.

imagine if skis had predrilled holes like snowboard. they would keep so much more their value. when you think about it mounting skis is so primitive, just drilling right into the core and screwing

yeah but the problem with that is you'll have to get binidings that pair up with the ski companie

either that, or every binding would have to go to a universal mounting pattern, and that just wouldnt happen.

if you have helicoids  with o screws in them the wood core or the holes with helicoils will be exposed to water (snow) and the core will get fucked up and you'll need anothe pair of skis in no time.

won't work plus heli coils make massive holes and stores charge alot some times to put them in. Just get 2 pairs of bindings. amplid make a binding plate which would do what u want but I still think you're better with 2 pairs of bindings.

It won't work. Water won'te be sealed from the unused set of holes. The ski could be weakened a lot depending on the placement. Most shops will charge about $10 for a single helicoil and you'd need 32 of them. They'd do it for $50 maybe but it wouldn't be a good idea at all.

Demo bindings are your only answer. Deal with the weight increase and extra stand height.

Or just suck it up. Mount in an average location and compromise your skiing all round slightly. Or mount at one of the two positions you had in mind and deal with it.

I've never seen a shop charge more than $3 per heli coil...

Reguardless, it won't work.
