My first longboarding injury!

right so a few friends (who are much better than me) and myself were longboarding around last night, and we did some hills that were fairly advanced for me, and i did almost all of them (which i'm quite proud of, cause i'm still pretty new to longboarding). so my friend is like "hey lets go hit up the 10th street hill (which is steeper, but a bit shorter then the hill we just did) so i was like "yeah lets go!" half way down the hill i got speed wobble, and almost got out of it, but then bailed in the middle of the road. so both elbows, my left knee, and my right knuckles are scraped up. haha. but it was an awesome time cause i did some big hills that i never did before!

Slide gloves and a pair of knee pads will save you.

haha yeah, i was just stoked that i did those hills, even though i did fall. the scrapes aren't too bad, maybe two weeks for the worst one to fully heal, the others should be healed in time for the weekend.

I was texting while i was going down a bike path and went off the side of it and flipped into a ditch and broke 2 ribs and separated my shoulder. i was lucky i didn't hit my head because i wasn't wearing a helmet

My friend broke her wrist when she forgot to check her truck looseness and bombed a hill with some of us. I wrote "speed wobble" on her cast.

oh man road rash sucks.
I need to pick up some safety stuff... i have a skid lid but thats it. Speed wobbles down hills are scary shit, how tight were your trucks?

my first was my first day on a longboard, a vanguard that i borrowed from work. i was skitching and my friend thought it would be funny to go real fast. I got 3 HUGE speed wobbles and then slid a good ways on my arms.
the funny thing is when that stuff happens you dont feel it, and people are like whoah thats pretty bad but you dont care and you feel like a badass. then later it really hurts once the endorphins or whatever wear off. and then you get in the shower and it really hurts.
the good news is I havent gotten hurt on a longboard in a long time. I know my board very well, and we generally stick to this AMAZING development that has the smoothest best pavement I have seen in my life, and acres of huge rolling hills. its impossible for me to get speed wobbles there.
