A boot thread (but a good question)

If I have a pair of boots that I order offline brand new, can a shop heat fit them for me? Will most shops do this? I am asking because I can get a great deal on a pair of Dalbello 08's but I am wondering if the shops will fit them for me. BTW I will be trying sizes on so I get the right size so don't start freaking out about how some companies are different sizes etc...

yes shops will heatfit them for you, but i'd be very suprised if they didn't charge you heavily for the privelige..

I know in our shop, when a customer comes in with a pair of boots off ebay and wants them blown or liners heated etc, we go to town on them..

If you are nice about it, they might hook you up, depending on what needs to be done.

yeah we didn't used to charge but my boss is a greedy cock, plus i think he's czechoslovakian which means he's even more greedy..
I won't charge for it unless i sense masses of arrogance from the customer

Yeah, any shop will do it for you but they're meant to charge. Both shop I've worked in we got told to charge about $20-40. Go at a quiet time and be polite/talk to them about other gear and they should throw them on for free or cheap. I only ever charged a couple of times for customers who were complete assholes or I was having to take time out from paying customers.

And it's very cheeky to go trying on boots in shops and then buy them online. You will get a MUCH better service when getting fitted and getting advice if you're going to buy them there. If you really insist on buying online then please be upfront with the staff. Spending 1 hour plus on a bootfit and then not buying is the most annoying thing you could ever do to shop staff and they will never give you good service again if they recognise you. Don't even think of returning to the same shop to get them moulded.

Well the thing is that I am on a team that has a small sponsorhip from Dalbello. What I need to do is just find the right size and then order them. I'll go into the shop and try different boots on-if the Dalbello's don't fit my feet well, I won't bother. As for paying $20-$40, I am not worried about that considering I am getting a $699 boot for a much lower price.

Yea I did exactly that this year. I bought some SPK's off Al's ski barn and then brought them to a local shop to get moulded at no charge. I know the shop owner though, and he doesnt carry SPK's so it's not like I had the option of getting them from him. Point is, you should be able to get them moulded for free, just be smart about what you say to them...

It all depends on the liner. My foils have a heat fit liner, while the kreations dont.

The dalbellos should fit great. If you in Langes, and especially womens, I take it you have a narrow foot.

Most likely yes. I would keep them the only problem is I get terrible shin bang from them. Is this because they are not fitted properly? Not enough flex? I'm just trying to figure this out.

Elinator tongues and Boosters. Those made my Lange's perfect, but I have skinny legs and that was part of the reason. If the Lange's fit good everywhere else then take them to a good shop and see what they can do with them before you drop a few hundred on somethign new.
