Facebook Marketplace reliability?

Is it a legit way of buying items without getting scammed? Something from my area just went up for sale and it's more than $100 and I'd hate to get ripped off. I've never used it before, has anyone here?

well basically wouldnt yo7u just add the guy and get his info and do the transaction in person since it would only be in your local marketplace?

its pretty unlikely that someone would have a fake facebook, its possible but it would be a shitload of work, i mean if they have a bunch of pictures and stuff then its probably legit, an you'll have all of their info from it so it wouldn't be hard to find them if they ripped you off. i really dont know who would put in that much time for a hundred bucks.

hm, I'm not too sure. I'm in a more regional network as well as my local highschool one So I'm not sure exactly how far from me this person lives.

alright, maybe I'll go for it if my mom isn't freaking out about it. it's a Canon 70-200mm 4.0 L IS lens. the person said it was 500+ when she bought it and best offer. although it looks like shes expecting at least 500, maybe 400 for it. I want a nice telephoto but this might be a bit much.

does anyone know how the above one compares to this: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II USM Lens?

the only problem i can see with it would be exposure/reliability. You will get many more people to view your item if you put it on ebay. also, im not sure how many people check the marketplace on facebook or take it seriously.

true from a sellers pov, but I'm buying. I think it's free for them, which is one plus. and it's also mostly people in your area so it's not hard to just drop the item off rather than dealing with shipping.

it would be better because of the image stabilizer. but the 75-300 gives you an extra 100 mm. its all what your looking for. i would imagine the first one would be sharper though.

True the first one would be better because of the IS but I like the 300 on the other one.. It's also the one you said you're getting in the photo cult right? haha.. I was thinking about that one also and then the other one popped up too.
