Well I tried to go skiing on the Duffy yesterday in the Cayoosh with Jonny "Red" and "Indian", we got to the parking lot around 8pm and in total darkness. After getting our scatered shit together we boot packed up the trail in search of deep epic turns, half way to the cabin in over grown trees and slash piles our crew came along Stainer coming back from a solo over night mission to ski the glacier up above.
Shane skied epic turns he said but it took him over 8 hours to get up and down there from the cabin. Stainer was exausted and stoked at the same time as he made his way back unscaved and determined to ski to the parking lot. We stayed over night in the cabin and had hoped to wake up early enough to hike to the glacier that Stainer skied the day before.
The light was perfect but the snow was melting fast so we headed to scout lines only to see rock gardens and huge cliff bands that stretched for what seemed like miles with melting snow ingrained in our heads so instead we opted to race the melting snow pack down so we didn't have to walk back to the trucks. looks like we'll try it again next snow fall.
