today i woke up to hear that me and the rest of our crew (3 others) are being evicted from our 2nd story baller-lifestyle flat...  unfortunatly there is some dumb new jersey stuck up bitches on the floor below that go to bed at like 9 and they have called our landlord over 10 times in the last 2 months for . Last night we only had like 10 people over, not crunking our surround sound at all, not close to a a party, just thursday night pre-gamein, someone starts pounding on the door and i look out and thres 3 cop cars parked outside, some going around back with flashlights. Our house got red-flagged right before I moved in cause of 3 different calls to the police for huge partys. We shut all the noise down completely and turn off most of the lights, finish my 40 and walk out onto our balcony. Immediatly i get a search light in my face "CHIEF WHY DONT YOU JUST COME DOWN HERE".  "sir im trying ot  sleep goodnight"  shut the door and went back inside. We got everyone up in the main room out of the basement and just chilled  and ignored the constant slamming on the back and front doors. After about 40 minutes we got a girl to strip down to some boxer shorts and  bra and this other kid to come down in his boxers and they opened the door all angry and told the cops they were trying to fuck and did not appreciate the harrassment. I listened the whole time from down the stairs "I WANT ADRIAN CAL AND SPENCER RIGHT NOW"  but my boy held it down and told the police that unless they had a warrent nothing was happening, that we were all asleep and that he only had one job to do: fuck his girlfriend. Shut the door and went backupstairs. We held out for another 30 minutes of yelling and banging but eventually they left around 3am and I guess called our landlord again this morning.  thats just breaking a social rule calling the po on other  kids your age. PLus they never have even said anything to us, just straight up beatass  proper bitches, you think they would be stoked to have 4 chill smokers/skiers upstairs but instead just made my life 100x harder.

yea it sucks... my parnets are gona be pissed when they learn they just lost another $500 in deposits

but at least its a chance to start over and get a full house to ourselves where we can party as much as we want and pay less rent  than i am now , have a yard to jib in  , full garage and 2 floors , growroom, 2 baths.

There is a really good lesson in here - Never, never, never open the door for the po po unless they have a warrant.  Seriously - Talk to them through the closed door - never open it!!!!!

I speak from a bad experience here - they will grab your ass and drag you outside and there is nothing you can do about it except keep the door closed and locked.

I'm pretty sure it's you who makes your life harder. Those girls had every right in the world to call the cops on you. There is no reason they should have to come upstairs and say, "Hey, can you please shut the fuck up as we're trying to sleep." That's the landlords job. And I am sorry, but there is nothing that pisses me off more than people who share an apartment building and can't have respect for each other.

And why would they be stoked to have some skiers who like to party upstairs if they're so "proper"?

You bring up respect, so I bring this up.  If you want to show some respect for your noisy neighbors, tell them politely they are keeping you up and ask if they can try and keep it down.  You don't need to be a narc and go behind their back.  That's shady and will get them on your bad side for sure.  Talking it out is so much easier than dragging other people into the situation.

at college my RA said that if there is someone being no noisy on a week night that its your job to go up to their room, knock on their door and ask them to be a little quieter...not to call security, thats a dick move. and security has more important shit to do then worry about a noisy dorm room

Uhhh, maybe I'm missing something, but it sounds like you knew you were bothering people and had it coming.  Sorry, but you're not getting sympathy from me if you were fully aware that you were bothering the neighbors.  If you knew that they had complained you should have adjusted or at least talked to them.  You were the group at fault, not them.

But why should they show respect to their noisy neighbors in the first place? Their safe bet was to contact the landlord and have him do his job as property owner and control the environment. It was not those girls job to take the situation into their own hands. They did the right thing. Give respect gets respect. Right? So if you can't give it, by being a noisy neighbor, then why should it be graced upon you?

I've been on both sides of the fence, the loud, disruptive and drunk neighbors, and the quiet respectful neighbor.  It's so much easier to just let your neighbors know if you are going to throw a party, or what time you like to go to bed, that way at least they are aware.  Then, if it continues you can make the appropriate move to the landlord/police what have you.  Some people living in apartment communities have no idea how much noise they make until they are told so, some walls are thicker than others.  Better hear it from a friendly neighbor than from a peeved landlord at 2am.

no you dont get it these bitches havent even come to talk to us once. if they knocked on our door and said "hey i know you guys are just having fun but i got a test tomorrow and really need some sleep  its really loud  " we would of completely respected that and made sure it stayed quiet that night.  but naw, they dial straight 911 or call our landlord and bitch away.   and they are all college students... dont fucking sign up for UVM  if you dont like people partying

towards the end of school me and my roommate would have little mini pregame parties in our dorm room.  we kept things quiet, the music would be so low it was hard to hear it in the actual room.

we got 2 noise complaints from some girl above us, she didnt even come try to talk to us.  so one night everyone is playing pong, having a good time when I heard someone banging a broom on the floor above us.  I went up there and checked it out.

I found the girl who had been giving the complaints.  I was a little drunk at the time and decided to really lay into her.  I wouldnt even let her speak, I told her she was being completely unreasonable, that her suitemates were playing music much louder than we were (it was true) and that she cant get pissed at normal sounds people make in their daily lives, if she wants total peace and quiet the dorm is the wrong type of living situation.

I then told her that if she has a problem, to talk to us, and that if she did it again I would call a bunch of fake complaints on her and make her life shitty.

I was kind of a prick but you have to understand on the 3rd noise complaint they get to search your room (bad for us cause we were such stoners)




Summary:

I sympathize with ya because its true, no matter how loud and obnoxious the person might be, you come talk to them first.  you dont call the cops.  thats lame.

of course they have a right to peace and quiet, thats not what this is about.  its about some college students who willingly decided on going to a party school, willingly decided to live in a student apartment complex, and took the worst course of action to deal with some noise from their neighbors.

You made it clear in your first post that you knew they were complaining, so why do they need to talk to you?  Speaking directly would be nice, but in this case it was totally unnecessary because you were already aware that you were bothering other people.  I know this sounds weird, but some people actually go to college to learn.  Not everyone likes to party every day, the world is not black and white, learn to respect other people.  But yeah, they're definitely all conspiring against you.

yeaa nothings going right for me in life... im 18 and i  skied all summer, have my own house, job and  car and will get to ski every day this winter and im applying to schools for next year . I should probably just hang myself

You should probably think about going with those dudes again... even if the house itself is not red flagged, the cops know where u are and could figure out where u are going. if u seperate from them, you'll probably avoid getting busted...

That sucks the way things worked out.

however some general rules to live by even at a "party" college

mon-thur nights keep it quiet after 11pm, unless you have forewarned your neighbors or have a standing arrangement.

make nice with your neighbors when you move in, be the bigger people and do the legwork to make friendly with your neighbors because chances are they wont

dont think all college students party every night even at a party school, chances are those that spent their freshman year constanly partying arent allowed back for the 2nd year

you have been red flagged they know who you are now, and after not playing nice with the cops and instead ignoring them they will be watching you closely (so wait at least a year to start having more than a 1/4 bag anywhere near you)

the walls and floors in apartments are extremely thin

landlords in college towns will screw you out of money in any possible way be it damages to property to evicting you and charging fees and rent to charging you for things as tiny as a bunrt out light bulb you did not replace when you moved out, they also typically have all the judges and law enforcement on their side in a town.

in most residential areas (or according to contracts with a landlord prior to renting the dwelling)having more than one guest per room mate in a dwelling can be considered a party and can be grounds for many many problems

all in all give repect first before expecting to get any. tell your neighbors first before having a party, tell them you like to have people over often, tell them that if things are ever loud or a problem for them to just come and let you know.

what happens sucks greatly for ya dont get me wrong and i am not trying to take away from that but take it from someone who has been there done that on both sides of the coin in this story talk to your neighbors first and dont ignore the cops if nothing else with the door shut apologize for the problems and let them know you will turn it all off for the night. best bet is to never have anything incriminating in view of the door and open the door to talk to them and just dont let them in. good luck in the future you may need it

if i was you i would go down stairs and talk to the people that live there and just be like yo listen the fuck up ok. sorry you guys dont like to have fun but we do. if we are bothering you because u have a test or a shit ton of homework here is my phone number call me and tell me to shut the fuck up or come tell us in person dont call the police.

my friends and i did this at our place in bellingham washington i didnt go to college the other 3 did i just skied at mt. baker but anyways we gave our neighbors our cell numbers because we lived more in a family area and said hey if we are ever to loud call us or just come over and tell us to shut up because we will. i think the cops only came to the house twice in a year and that was because of massive amounts of people and cars outside.

not really, it's actually pretty stupid, some people go cause it's a state school and instate tuition is a lot cheaper. and anyways it was a thursday, not everyone parties during the week. it just sounds like you thought they were prudes and wrote them off. you should have really just gone to them and gave them your cell number, and had them call if they thought you were too loud. it's just common sense. oh well, now you know what to do this time around.
