I live in the Salt Lake City area, Utah, and I love hip hop, especially the avant stuff, so this upcoming week is gonna be the heat! Because:
Monday October 22 - Aesop Rock feat. Rob Sonic and DJ Big Wiz w/ Black Moth Super Rainbow and Blockhead w/ DJ Signify at In The Venue, downtown Salt Lake City. $15 >>>>> Aesop Rock is my favorite rapper ever! And hes coming to Salt Lake with Blockhead (beat-maker who makes great jams including the beat for 'Daylight') and DJ Signify (who is not well known but also makes great instrumental hip hop)!
Thursday October 25 - Blackalicious at the Depot in Park City. $17/advance, $25/door >>>>> Saw them last year at the same venue. Solid show. A bit pricey, though. Prolly gonna go again this year.
Friday October 26 - Busdriver and Daedelus at In The Venue, dowtown Salt Lake City. $10 >>>>> Busdriver is a fast rapping, abstract-type who represents California and straight kills it. A bit tricky to follow but its nice if your blazin.' Hes backed up by Daedelus, my favorite electronic producer. Dude makes the most progressive, creative, dope, and straight whacked-out instrumental music. Shit is so nice... nice for days. He's what you'd get if Pollard was good at making beats instead of skiing.
Three dope shows in the SLC area in one week! So dope! Just thought I'd throw this out to all my fellow Utahns who dig hip hop. These shows should not be overlooked!
