My friend has this bad case of acne, and he keeps asking me how to get rid of it. Anyone have any good tips?

pop the shit outta those suckers.

but really, i've got this neutrogena oil-free acne wash stuff that works well. just scrub your face with it every night before bed and morning during a shower.

Tell him to eat better less or no soda and low sugar. Wash his face before bed and in the mourning. Don't hold the phone on your face when you talk. Get proactive for face wash shit works like a dream. Shave less often, and change your pillow case. No fast food. I never had acne very bad but I would over react if I got a pimple.

Also if he wants to go extreme go to the doctor and get acutane. It will clear up your face for sure but it fucks with your liver so you cant drink and you have to get tested every once in a while.

yea i used to get acne, so i stopped drinking milk and it eventually began to clear up. 

so i just drink chocolate soy now and calcium orange juice.

i had a liter of milk a couple days ago and already noticed some new pimples.

geeze, i dont drink milk, i wash my face, i shave to keep from getting sweat trapped on my face, i use proactiv, and i take prescription pills. i still have some gnar acne, esp on my back. shit pisses me off

wash your face and if you have bangs if you dont wash your hair your forhead will get oily too and produce acne

i had really bad acne when i was younger....this helps

1. as gross as they may be at times, do not pop them. youll have major scarring if you do
2. stop eating greasy foods, choco, mcds shit like that. dont do it.
3. wash your face with ONLY hot water. once you're done washing splash cold water on your face, this will make your pores close so crap cant get in there.
4. buy some clearasil cream and only put a small dab on the problem areas.

hope this helps a bit and if it doesnt go to the dermotologist...they know whats up

some people just have really bad skin no matter what they do. I wash my face evrryday and use this neutrogena stuff that makes oil go away. and i eat well. my skin is foine.

i know how you feel. I've taken pretty much everything possible, including acutane, and i'm still getting pwned. I shower twice a day and use moisturizer free soap but nothing works for me. I've pretty much given up. What does work tho is swimming a lot and being in the sun i've learned.

i was on accutane when it first came out. it worked well, yes but it had some serious side affects. i would not reccomend that shit to anyone no matter how bad their acne is. bad bad stuff. they should have taken it off the market years ago!

Your lips will get very dry from accutane, but it works.

You can thank you dad for all your acne, alot of the times its hereditary...

i took it cleared me up, at the beginning it makes it worse for liek a week ( think of it as all the ones coming out that were underneath coming out all at once) AND BTW u can drink i drank i asked my doctor he said it was fine, my other friend told me u get drunk faster but i never went as far to test that theory, u can also smoke ganja while taking it nothing wrong there did it. but it works magic so happy i took it and so pissed thats not the first thing i did i did like anitbiotics and loads of creams beforem y doctor put me on that....

o yeah forgot to mention yeah the side affects were bad but for me it was onyl the first week that i had like EXTREMLY dry lips and i think one week my skin like peeled or sumthing i dont rmrb but i rmrb it was onyl for a short period of time than they calmed down and it was normal i think it has sumthing to do with how much u take a day i was on a very low dosage for very long time like one pill a day for 5 months or sumthing

early on in high school i had pretty good success with proactiv. my acne wasn't too bad, but proactiv helped clear it up after a month or two. then i stopped using it and it seemed to never come back, just gotta wash your face and keep bacteria out of your pores.

i dont have bad acne but i have some and im using differin, which is working real good. also when i went to florida this summer, it went away completely. between the salt water and the sun that worked real good. i might try not drinking so much milk, cause i drink A LOT of milk...

my brother was on acutane and as a result he tore both acl's
what i do to keep acne down is use cetaphil. it clears out all the oils but doesnt dry your face out. i take a minicylcene pill once a day and shower anywehere from 3-5 times a day. might sound crazy but it works. as for backne, just use oxy pads, for me it clears it up no problem.

i have some reeally bad acne too. go to a dermatologist. it is pretty much guaranteed to get rid of your acne but for some people it will take a really long time like me. i started going to a dermatologist in august and he gave me all this prescription medicine. i use those and neutrogena face wash and its getting a little better. he said about three months from now my face will be a lot more clean.

I feel like no matter what you do sometimes it's going to happen.  Sometimes your skin is more oily than other stretches of time, and those oily times will obviously not be so fun to deal with.  As for all the previous advice, it's all good for sure....except for the don't drink milk thing....i drink at least 2 gallons of milk/week and it has no effect but who knows - maybe for some people it does something.  I've heard greasy food will do it, or chocolate, or now milk, everybody is different. 

In my personal experience, the more stress i have in my life or more worried i am...that's when it happens to me.  If i'm in a good mood, just chillin and confident that everything is good then my skin reflects it.  I feel as though a lot of it is mental.  And at the end of the day, as much as breakouts suck....it's not the end of the world.  but i hate it and i've been through the worst of it when i was in high school which was the last thing i needed.  Just know everybody deals with it man, it'll be alright.  and good luck of course.

dont pop them Some people might tell you that popping your zits will make them less noticeable and help them heal faster, but they're wrong. Picking or popping your pimples pushes germs further under your skin, which could cause more redness, pain, and maybe even a nasty infection. And popping zits can lead to scarring, which could last forever. im sooo lucky i have really good skin.

Acutin (sp?) is a cure for acne.  It causes your sebaceous glands to basically shut off so your skin and lips will become very dry, however with chap stick and moisturizer your all set.  I have had bad acne for about 8 years and this treatment is the best thing thats ever happened to me.  Its true that their are side effects, but your dermatologist should/will explain all of them to you.  The side effects are worth it, its been a dream come true for me.  85% of people who take Acutin never have acne again.

to all you guys that say what you eat, i.e sugar,milk ect... it will not affect you at all. what you eat doesnt affect acne unless you like rub the food on your face. milk is a wives tale...

yeah basically never have acne when i do 2 a days at the gym i might notice someone poppin' up but i just use some clearasil and its gone by next morning, i just cant help but wonder how the heck some people get to the point of looking like they have small pox?

yea ive had pretty bad acne since 9th grade, i find that proactive had no effect, nor did antibiotics. Now im so used it doesnt really bother me anymore, and its starting to clear up on its own now that Im older. The best medicine is to wash your face every day, shower, wash your hands, try not to touch your face etc.

hahaa you're lucky then!! i never had it bad to the point where it looked like small pox but i did have it bad. some people get it from not washing properly (eww), passed down by the 'rents and from what they eat and their daily activities

Accutane is the answer. I had horrible acne from about 6th-7th grade until 11th grade. I tried everything that exists. Proactiv and its knock-offs, all kinds of washes, prescription stuff, even this eBay stuff. Nothing worked. Then I finally got accutane. It is the best, and ONLY thing that worked for me. I was on it for 5.5 months. Yes, it was horrible. It was during ski season and my knees, hips and back would alwasy be sore because it messes with your joints. I had the worst dry skin. I would put lotion on 10 times a day. It dried the shit out of my lips. I was constipated a lot and shit. I got rashes on the tops of my hands sometimes, and the inside of my arms. There might even be more that I'm forgetting. BUT even with all that, I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT. Because the shit actually worked. It's been over a year now and I am still fine. All my side effects went away within a few days.  All I do now is wash my face with some regular cleansing face wash.
The only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner instead of living with it on my conscience all those years. I would suggest it to anyone who has acne. If your doctor says you can take it, do it.
Also, about the liver stuff. I was always fine. I smoked, but held off on drinking a lot, and was fine. Two of my friends who also did it got wasted all the time and never had any liver problems.
