Shop Cracked My FKS Heel

So I just got a pair of Nordica Enforcers from Cole Sports in Park City.  I asked the shop guy if they could bend the brakes and mount the bindings. They said no problem; yesterday I got the skis back and noticed a crack in the heel piece and also noticed that they did a horrible job on bending the brakes. I went back to the shop and asked what happened, of course the shop guy had no clue what happened. He looked for a replacement heel plate in the shop, of course he did not find one. After the manager came over he told me they will call the Rossi/Look rep and see what they could do. Today they told me that the crack will not affect the binding at all but they could send it back to Rossignol and they might be able to replace the broken plate. So does anyone know if the crack will affect the binding and if I should send it back or should I just ski it? If anyone has any extra plates or parts let me know.

In the current condition, it shouldn't affect anything, but that could easily crack more which would most likely have bad results.  I would have the shop see what they can do.  Were they cracked when you brought them in?

binbdingz are usually a solid piece of hard wear but one crack is all it takes.

if they were fine before they got mounted, then you should get a replacement - or at least something to restore them to the way they were..

A small crack wont get smaller, only bigger.

I doubt that will affect the performance of them, BUT, they are bindings and it is best to not fuck around with them....

I would see if Look could swap it out, or send you a replacement piece.  shouldn't be a hard fix at all.

I am sure that they were not cracked before I tock them to the shop to get mounted. I think that when they were atempting to bend the brakes they did not take them off the turntable and put too much pressure on the plate.

Is it just the plastic thats cracked? I think as long as the metal baseplate isnt cracked, you should be fine. Maybe bring it back in and show them.

bindings are super important, and since its still october, i would certainly look into replacement by rossi (via shop), as long as it doesn't take too long.

What is strange is I have a set of cracks on each heel piece akin to that on a pair of p18s, and have never noticed anything adverse from it. It's just a bit unnerving to know that I have cracks in my bindings though...

The metal baseplate on my Px12's has completely cracked. However, they are on my urbans, and dont eject, so its all good.

I sure hope my FKS dont crack..

Since ski season is still a ways away and the shop is liable for the damage, I  don't see any reason to not get it fixed.  You gave them money to do a job and they didn't do it right, so some compensation should be in order.

doesn't matter if it affects the bindings or not (which it most likely does) they cracked your bindings to tell those crackers to get you a new heel piece.

ok it sound like I should take it back to the shop to have them sent back to rossignol.

I agree that it shouldn't affect your skiing but it's going to be weakened to an extent - it could crack more in the future now. See if they come back to you on a replacement.

I'd be more pissed off about the job they did on bending the brakes - they've just bent them out from their original position instead of bending straight and rebending. Check how much they stick out when a boot is clamped in there.
