Replying to Photographs
This is something I have been wondering for a long time. About 3 years ago, if one were to post a picture, he might get 30 comments back, and 20 ratings on his picture. This would let him and his photographer know how much the skiing community in general liked their joint piece of art. Nowdays, it seems that half of the photo section is just full of pictures of stuff people are selling (these should be posted as private pictures, not public). I think that with the new Karma settings on the site, ratings on photographs and videos should have some sort of major impact on your Karma. Think about it, if someone is constantly putting up crappy pictures of the coat they just bought, that nobody cares about, their picture would obviously be rated worse than someone who puts up a picture of them doing a cork 9 tru-nose. Why? Because the latter is actually contributing to a ski community in some way. Now, what would make people want to comment on these photos. If, just as the amount of posts might help your karma go up somewhat, what if everyone knew that commenting on a photo, and rating photos would also effect their karma. Now, you have some sort of reason to rate photos, you want your photos to be rated well, so you are sure to only post the best photos that people might enjoy seeing, and those that you might only want for personal uses will be kept in your personal photo gallery. What say ye to this?
