its amazing.
i spent a few days there last year sometime, was so much fun.
the markets are cheap and interesting, good gold markets and souks.
didnt go skiing there though, little too congested.

parents are planning on going back sometime soon for longer, and do some other stuff that we didnt have time for.

Are you for real? No BS, in 2006 I was working at a divecenter affiliated with a hotel owned by this guy. The first time they booked their dives, he and his staff, they didn't show up but still payed for the entire bill, not that it was astronomic but still way more then I ever spend cash on any given day. Damn, tips weren't that good for a guy that rich hahaha

Anyway, been in Dubai once, about 3 year ago, for a real short time but it was an awesome place. Love to go back there one day when I've settled down and don't spend all my money on skiïng and stuff

Look champ...I know you think you're being really clever by calling me out here, but the fact of the matter is that you're a twit looking for a e-fight. I have no problem with spelling or grammar. I do however have a problem with morons that waltz into these threads and make wild claims and assumptions that are so far of base in reality...that you couldn't get a caveman with down syndrome to believe it. I'm also bothered when people ask stupid questions that are either already answered in the thread, or easily Google-able. Just because someone has a complete and blatant disregard for common sense, it doesn't mean they have to be a nuclear physicist. This is the kind of shit that makes NSG suck. By ridiculing the outright stupidity, I feel I'm providing a community service by making NSG suck less. So, as they would say in England, feel free to "sod off".

yea, well the people that own those hotels probably went to school, worked ridiculously hard and learned a lot,  than they went to a good college, worked really hard in college, and put a shitload of hardwork into their hotel business to make it successful.  You can't just give that hard earned money away to people who are poor.  Don't young people realize that the world is not fair.  And just by shifting money from the rich to the poor your not gunna change anything except make people no longer want to study and work hard because they know that in the long run their gunna get their money taken away.  It is like throwing money into a black hole.

Guess you haven't heard about the working conditions there.  Might want to read up on that shit.  They make sweat shops look like a vacation.

And there's a chick in my grad program from Dubai.  She's actually hot, but she fucking sucks as a person.  She's the most unhappy, unfriendly waste of hotness I've ever come across.  Maybe the people there are different, but she's the only connection to Dubai I have.

hahahah i was watching that on sixty minutes too. i knew a kid from dubai...he was in my chemistry class last year but he moved back. he told me it was sick there....and the indoor ski slopes are amazing. idk about anyone else, but i think i'd rather ski outside...

Dubai isn't really a city fuled by petrolium revanue... in fact only about 3 percent of its reveanue is generated from petrolium exportation.  Dubai is actually expected to be completly dry of petrolium and natural gas in only 20 years.  The real money that dubai makes comes cheifly from tourism and other service business.   All the hype Dubai gets in the media is actually the effect rather effective marketing strategy.

In addition an estimated 250,000 workers, who live in sub human conditions and are paid almost nothing... absolutely nothing in some cases, build all those cool buildings.  So consider that the next time you look at them.

i dont think you know how filthy rich people get with oil..... btw, 1 gallon of gas is 3 bucks atleast... multiply that by atleast 500 million and thats a gallon of gas for say a little over america's population.. only 1 gallon of gas and thats 1.5 billion. now multiply that by how many gallons it takes to fill a cars tank, lets take my tercel... so 9 gallons 1.5billionx9 ( assuming everyones driving a tercel. thats just alone 13.5 billion dollars. in like 1 day. And thats just cars, what about planes and boats, and eskimo's.

We had a little section (just brief) on Dubai last year in world history, I know it has been off the charts in economic development but had no idea it took that kind of transformation in just fourteen years, that is amazing...i hope to go visit there some day it looks like an amazing place.

It's impossible, but seeing as how you have proven you know as much about industry as I do about Portuguese lance making...well, actually thats probably not true because I could tell you what a lance is while you couldn't tell me what a business is. You probably couldn't even tell me the difference between revenue and income.

Second, you also probably don't even have any data to back up any of those bullshit numbers you keep pulling out of your ass. I didn't even need to waste 30 minutes of my time digging any of my stuff up because I already know this shit because I study this kind of stuff everyday.

Third, it's also impossible for the richest man on the planet to hide anywhere. It's simply not possible to sweep that kind of money under the rug, people would notice. But it doesn't matter to you because you have no concept of money anyway. Would you like to show me how/where you got that "hundreds of trillion of dollars" idea from?
