Put my 94' 4runner up for sale yesterday... replacing it with a Ford Ranger!
haha just kiddding;) I'm really happy with the replacement -1998 Tacoma TRD, 4x4, 3.4L 5speed in black. I'm kinda glad I don't have to deal with the 3.slow anymore and I've noticed already that I'm getting much better gas mileage with the Taco. Win-Win!
I will be whoring out pics of both trucks when I get a chance
Pics as promised! I might as well show the progression of my Toyota love affair...First off, the old rusty beast. This truck got me through my first years of driving, which was interesting to say the least. Many times up on two wheels and stupid shenanigans with my friends got me so stoked on Toyota trucks... hell, it even got mentioned in about 5 grad write-ups because there were such epic times while driving that thing. I regret selling it to this day.
Next, the minty 4runner. Got bent over on this one... bought it from family without taking it to get inspected becasue I took their word for it. Well, leason learned that looks can be deceiving. 6 months after I bought it I had 6 grand invested in repairs. (Okay, that includes a little fender bender on my part haha.) Basically the thing had never seen basic maintenance so I got flooded with everything at once. It is a sick truck but I just wasn't fully stoked on it after all that. As it turns out, I sold it today- got asking price 2 days after posting it for sale, so I'm pretty stoked
And last but not least, my new baby. I've landed myself a good summer job to pay for toys, so come spring I plan on doing quite a bit of work to it. Planning on the gunmetal grey FJ TRD 16" rims on 32" A/T's with some spacers for a wider stance, New coils and shocks up front, add a leaf in the rear, deckplate mod, clear corners and tinted rear lights, painting the chrome pieces black, spray in liner (canopy comes off soon) and of course a decent sound system. (looking at the JL stealth box and sub) Enjoy!
Here's an update on my Tacoma- Finally got the funds together to buy some goodies, and over the last 3 or 4 months I've been slowly getting things together. So far I've added Bilstein 5100's front and rear, Eibach 3" lift coils, and a 2" Toytec Add a Leaf to fix the old sagging suspension. Got some new rubber- BFG All-Terrains in 32x11.50r15 wrapped around some Procomp rock crawler steelies. The rims didn't clear the calipers so I had to add spacers. a quarter inch would have done the trick but I don't like the idea of losing thread length, so i got 1.25"ers that come with new threads. Replaced my pads and rotors with factory Toyota replacements. Added new headlights (old ones had that nasty yellowish tinge) taillights, clear corners and blinkers, as well as some custom made bedside and windshield decals. Modded the airbox with a deckplate for better airflow and a rumored 10hp increase, and i snipped the grey wire in my dash that limits my locker usage. I can now lock the rear end in 4hi/lo and 2wd :) I also added a Pioneer deck, Jl speakers in all 4 corners, a 400w rms JL amp under the seat, and a 10" JL sub in a stealthbox so that I didn't lose passenger room. In the future I plan on doing the foglight mod, which makes my factory blinker location foglights, and my parking lights will be signals. Depending on how my cv's hold up I might have to do a differential drop bracket to correct the angle. I also plan on spraying in a bedliner, as well as covering my rusty hitch receiver and rear bumper in the stuff. Other than that all I really need are some good seat covers
Enough of the boring stuff- here's some actual pictures from today. I was just out for an hour or so by myself messing around, so these are all poser shots, but they'll do for now
Yup, I'm a member on there- dave.bc. I only have about 10 posts though, I spend quite a bit of time on that forum but it's basically just lurking. Good call on the decals too, I ordered them from sock. Armor is definitely next on my list since I'm actually getting out on the trails a lot more recently.... already have a nice dent in my cab behind the passenger door that wouldn't have been an issue if I had sliders. All in good time though... Right now school, skiing and dirtbiking takes priority over modding out the money pit.
Nice front end swap by the way! Although I like the 01-04 front ends, the older style has a much meaner look
