When you buy boots...

With most companies putting out both regular and freeride versions of most of their shells (for nordica, ignition has the same shell as the best, blower as the doberman. salomon has the gun version of the falcon and the foil version of the impact), do you tend to favor the freeride version of the two?

The reason i ask, i tried the impacts on and am in love with the fit, but i want the shock absorption footboard. i just cant decide if its worth going with the lower flex index and cheaper liner of the gun just for that. i'm a big guy, 6'5, 210, and crush most boots, so i cant decide. any advice? is it possible to change out the footboard? I'm on the east coast and my landings dont have much in the way of cushioning, ice just isnt that soft,

honestly, go for the better boot.the gun is a great boot nd actually has a decent liner. but the flexindex is lower. but then again, are you charging AK lines? stomping switch 1080's? i do a shi-ton of boot fitting everyday andi would still say that the gun is fine boot for you. but if the impact feels better and u like the a slightly better boot over all, go for it. u decide. andthere are no shitty features about the gun. its a good boot

err, not the gun, the foil. im deciding between the impact 10 and the foil.

thats a pretty significant difference in flex, and with you being 210 pounds you would probably crush the foil boot, i would go with the impact ten and put some sort of custom padded footbed in them, and besides the fact, the soft padded sole or whatever it is in the bottom of the foil shell doesnt make a WHOLE lot of difference as it is

thanks nomen, its replaceable, just screwed in. i just wasnt sure it was interchangeable with the footboard from the foil, ive never had to order one in my shop. the impact is a great shell, very anatomical, a lot like the falcon in a slightly wider last (upped it to 100 instead of the 99 of the xwave)

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, i thought u were looking at the gun. yea the foil is prob to soft unless u want a shit ton of flex,which i would reccomend against. the ipmact 9 and 10 are great oots and you can gfet different insoles and cut them to shpae etc...

They have twocolour schemes of the impact. With the xwaves this used to be freeride and race. The catalogue does not specify this, but i have a hunch it is. Check into it and see if you can get the freeride one. I garauntee the foil is too soft. Do not get it.
