decided i was going to check it out, and surprise! what does fakeridge do, steal dags idea. Doesn't the saying go something like 'only copy if you can do better' ?
Thats a lil fish compared to Dags Whale. And I sure hope that wood isnt going onto those and that theyre just using it to get templates for the plastic/puckboard. DFD box looks like it be super fun looks more mellow . Ill probably ride there a few times but theres no place like home riding dag. Solid A+ for creativity ;). Then again theres only so much you can do. But Dagmars Rails look bomb proof compared to these....
you guys cant say lakeridge is copying dagmar at all. Ya they got a whale box, so the fuck what. each hill is improving as years go by, obviously both hills are gonna get some of the same stuff. watch probably next season dagmar will get a DFD box, is that copying? no its not, its just improving your park. Who the fuck cares if lakeridge gets some of the same shit as dagmar, their both sick parks. And don't say something is shit until youve riden it. you cant decide just by looking. And one last thing, you didnt build it, and if you say its shit, go out and build one by your fucking self.
why would i build it myself lol i am paying money as a customer to use lakeridges facility. My duty as a customer is to pay money, your duty as employment is to a) make sure we get what we pay for, and b) have fun. If lake is offering a service you cant argue that "we should make it oursleves" we have the right to complain about this sketched out 'thing'. Sure its not done, and probably anything would look sketch at that age in its maturity.
That counter argues your point of we haven't ridden it yet. True. But it was the sketchiest looking thing in decades. I shook the DFD and it was going to fall over and break. Remember that drop in you made? yeah... comparable.
Finally, statistically based on previous years, i am going to be prejudice and say it won't work well and dagmar owns.
Hence why I said theres only so much you can do... I dont give two shits if Lakeridge is copying Dagmar. If you really wanna aruge you could say Louis had the whale first but who cares really. Everyone will still ride what they want and where they want.
On another note are they really going to be topped with wood?
that being said...it is good to see that more and new features are being built....its only going to make everyone step it up....where is OSC in all of this
Boring?.....What, me having no opinion here? Do you want it?
It looks to be built solid, I would have tried make it flow a little smoother...but having ACTUALLY BUILT PARK FEATURES...I know bending pipe over that great of length is not easy...
As for the wood.....all our plastic top boxes/features have plywood under them.....thats how you fasten the plastic down......
We'll have some new stuff, but I don't intend to just build bigger and bigger features every year....why?
Because only a limited number of people can actually ride/have fun on crazy long rails and HUGE jumps....
As I've said before, we don't feel we have to have the BIGGEST features, or the BIGGEST park...we want to be the best OVERALL ski facility in the area...why? Terrain parks alone don't pay the bills..no matter how much some think they do.
We're building a "wave rail"...its NOT a whale box....ours is only 10" wide....and is 20' long.....it can be set up a couple of different ways...I guess its similar, but not the same ol' same ol'...
I'll wait until the features are finished before I post them for everyone to complain about....lol
Will OSC be running an event again this year?...and Gordon...do you think that the events are really worth it in the end?...i mean i have been apart of events...and i think sometimes the work is much greater than the reward...nothing to do with Lakeridge at all
Oh ya....we'll be running our annual slope style and Big air....I don't have the dates in front of me...But I think I set them the same weekends as last year....
Do I think they are worth it?
Financially, we gain nothing...because I use all the money from registration etc. for prizing generally....and the comp. ski pass is WAY below a normal pass...it doesn't help the revenue for the day very much.
Its alot of work...and something we do for you guys...NOT to make a profit....plus...we have as much fun those days as the riders...makes for some good pics..and good publicity.
It does bring people out to our hill that normally would not have come out...because we are a little further for some....and not totally "park oriented". We don't use it as a marketing tool persay....but it has marketing benefits....and it is nearly imposible to measure the success of marketing.
On the downside, we do get alot of people complaining about the park not being open to the masses on these days.....but, you can't please everyone...every day.
Sorry if this is Hyjacking the Lakeridge thread....
