Replying to Help me with short essay topics

I have to write a 2-3 page critical essay about a work of literature.  Out teacher told us to stay away from books because he wants us to be very specific.  I have looked in my Literature book and all of the things are uninteresting to me.  I pretty much need an interesting short story that is packed with meaning, and it wouldn't hurt to have some very obvious .  With this story I have to draw a useful conclusion and develop that into my thesis and then go from there.  Does anyone have some good pieces that they can offer me?
