Ski Shopping

I'm looking for new ski's this year and would like some help. I don't know a whole lot about choosing ski's but here is the info:

sex: male
height: 5'6 ish
weight: 56 k, 125 pounds
price: 400-600
sking: half park, half all mountain

Basically any park ski will be good enough for me in the park, so i'm looking for twin tips that can carve and ski well out of park. Another thing i want is for it to be pretty light.

I live in Ontario/gta (not much pow) but i will be skiing Vermont for about a week.



I bought freeskiers 2008 uyers guide and looking through that these stood out to me:
-Armada AR6
-K2 PE
-Line chronic

those can be bought for 500 or less online and so can some 2007's like
-salomon teneighty foil

So i really wouldn't mind getting 07 models because they are like 50 percent off now. I am going to the toronto ski show so im looking forward to discounts.

So if you guys could help me out that would be much appreciated. recap $400-600, park ski thats good all-mtn, light.

also if anyone in the gta knows a really goo place for getting boot fitted, the only actual ski place i know is corbetts, is there anywhere better that i should be going to?

im from t dot aswell. just go to the ski show theres more then enough info on skis for you and there prob a bunch of boot fitters too.

im thinking armada ar6s for you if you want to actually be able to flex your skis a bit. i was the same size as you last season, and on chronics. they were too stiff for my liking and i could hardly flex them. i've heard that public enemies are the same, if not stiffer. i've also had experience with armada ar5 which i was able to flex more and the ar6's are suppose to be a tad bit softer.

so if you want a stiff ski, then i think chronics are good, but for softer, ar6s.

Bump/

Freeskier's online review video says that the ar6 is stiff, but it says the ARW (the woman's) is basically the same thing but softer, should i consider this ski even though its a woman's?

well out of the 3 u picked I would narrow it down to the chronic and AR6
the PE has been improved this year but I am not going to give it any credit till I get a chance to ride it

Know between the chronic and AR6 u pretty much only have to choose what flex u want
the AR6 has a mediumish flex and the chronic has a stiffer flex, both hold turns really well, are great on groomers, and have thicker edges to take rail abuse so id say the only thing to really choose between those 2 would be flex

the chronics are dope sauce bro!!!!

i have the 06's and they are money!

pretty light but also pretty stiff. i dont remember if you mentioned what flex you were lookin for...

theyr edges will last a long time and theyr good all mountain too.

they are shit for powder tho so your little vermont trip might be a bitch if you hit pow...

the PE's are ok.  i had a pair back in the day and i didnt really have any complaints bout em

Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming, also keep in mind that 2007 ski's should be taken into consideration because you can get ones that were like a thousand for about 450 this year.

About the flex, like i said i dont really know much about buying ski's. Also i dont know what kind of flex i should be getting. Keep in mind I'm light, but i want to carve... so whatever kind of flex that turns out to be.

Yo ok so for those of you who live in the GTA i went to the ski show and they didnt have either the ar6 or the chronic, and they only had one boot fitter with park boots with two boots that fit me. So pretty much it was balls for finding equipment for me. I went to corbetts the day before, they have either of thse ski's and they didnt have boots my size (25ish). What do you guys suggest for picking equipment? I plan to order online because then they'll have stuff my size but like i haven't even touched or looked at the ar6, which i think is the ski i want, unless theres something softer. But, i don't even know what the flex on that is like. I feel kinda screwed getting equipment is truing into guesswork. Do you guys have any tips or advice on what i should end up doing?

honestly, it sounds like your a complete newb (no offense) wen it comes to twins. so here is my suggestion.

- look at these skis: Dynastar nothing but trouble, older scratch fs, k2 silencer, or some thrusters. you dont need an expensive/better twin, because your not stomping 720's (are you) or doing doulbe flips. it would make way more sense to save that money and get a nice pair of boots that fit.

-as for boots...you have realllyy small feet.but u may beable to find some at a shop. just go your ski shop, tell them how u ski, and they shoud be able to get you fitted like a champ., providing they have your size.... 

-you also dont need the best bindings...some salomon s912's or the z10's would be fine and i would really reccomend those

check out the salomon thruster form lastyear in a 161, sounds like your ski. and you can order boots offline, just make that you try on the closest size as possible. or if you wanna save money...

You should seriously consider the ///surface watch life's.. last years in 171 are solid and if you can still get them they are damn cheap around $270. This years come in 163, 173, 183 and are super cheap as well, I just got mine from Autumn garage for $374.

look at salomon thrusters, they're sick in park from what ive heard and they have like an 85 waist or something which is pretty dope for skiingn around the mountain

yea as much as i hate people who do this...

go to your local ski shop and try on a couple different pairs of boots and have the tech fit you for your size until you find the right boot for your skiing type and the right size.

then just give the guy like 20 bucks or somethin for his time and thank him (alot) then go home and order that boot offline.

if you know what your lookin for you can get some pretty dope deals on the internet on boots. ans skis for that matter.
