... Detroit records a 90 degree temperature on October 8th... a record
for the date and the latest 90 degree temperature ever recorded...
... Warmest four-day high temperature stretch for October achieved...
... Summer makes a return visit the first week of October...
As of 151pm EDT... the temperature nicked 90 degrees at Detroit Metro
Airport. Not only was this a record for the date... it was a record for
the latest 90 degree ever registered at Detroit since 1870!
The previous record high for October 8th was 89... set back in 1939...
while the previous latest 90 degree (or better) high temperature so
late in the year was 92... set back on October 7th 1963.
In addition... the four-day stretch... from the October 5th-8th 2007...
has been the warmest high temperature stretch ever recorded for the
month of October with an average high temperature of 87.8 degrees. The
former four-day high temperature stretch record in October was 86.5
from the 2nd-5th back in 1951.
Also... the first week in October /1st-7th/ averaged an impressive 69.6
degrees (and this doesn't even include the 90 degrees today). This 69.6
is just shy of 13 degrees /+12.9/ above normal. Amazingly... this 69.6
degrees is warmer than our normal for the entire month of June which in
69 degrees even. The warmest October ever recorded at Detroit was back
in 1963 with an average temperature of 62.7... nearly eleven degrees
/+10.8/ above the normal of 51.9.
Up in the UP and it has been raining almost non stop the last 3 weeks...it is crazy, hopefully the snow will fall the same. Can't wait for some Mt. Bohemia action!
