So not that IDEA is out, and everyone was talking about Andy's and Pep's X-Games runs possibly being in the movie, where are they? I really want to see what those runs. Anyone know?

people have gone over this before, but no it was not a slap in the face.  No one in the world would have beat Candide and Pep and Andy just got the message across that they are looking to have fun and increase progression.  I wish I could see the footage.





Oh and the xgames deserve a slap in the face.

one other thing: they got invited REALLY LATE.  they had almost no notice, only like a week or something ridiculous.

they did it before candide had even layed down a solid run in qualifiers and took LAST. Pep could have at least done some of his cork 5s and cab 5s which are prolly the best out of anyones.

i kinda wish they never got invited.  ive never seen there run and im guessing alot of people didnt so in no way were they "showing people that skiing is for fun and progression".  so really they were taking 2 spots away from people who would have tried there ass's off and maybe even upset one of the big name pros.  on that note id like to say that pep and andy are amoung my favorite skiers and i want to see there runs.

see i kinda disagree with that. first off, who cares if they supposedly "runied" their 2 places that couldve been used by other kids. Andy and Pep are possibly THE best skiers  ever right now, just watch idea. and notice how they can do everything rightside and leftside on huge bc kickers.....

fuck the competition hype. go ski to have fun.

for me its either pep or pollard for my fave. after that its probably seth morisson or mr mcconkey.

well now that you know that useless information about my favourite skiers, i would have to say i agree that this metaphorical slap in the face was well overdue.

i know what your saying and where your coming from but instead of saying sure well go and do 180s because we havent trained, they could have let someone who had been training for high level competition take their place and just hung out and skied the course with their friends. I respect what they did but they shouldnt have done it at the x-games because its an invite only comp. one of the opens would have been better for it because they wouldnt be taking someones place who hadnt gotten a chance to compete. Im not saying what they did was stupid but it they didnt have to be in x games to get that idea out.

ha who cars if they didnt try to win,  skiing isnt about being serious and shit, its about being original, doing what you want and most of a having fun!  if the people at espn dont like it thats their problem for being boring.  plus its them who invited them, i say if you make it in to something like the x games you should be able to do what you want, not what other people want.   
if you want athletes to take stuff seriously and just do stuff to please espn and make money, your in the wrong sport, go be a badass and play football.

i agree with what youre saying man and i agree that theyre runs were stylish but if you think about it, the people who couldve been invited instead might have gotten a big break and blown up and maybe even won. they could have blown up and had a career  in skiing. however what they did didnt even work because noone has even seen there runs and prolly never will.

but they were invited last second  so it dosn't matter really who they are you dont have enough time to practice and if they turned the invite down then they would've invited some other big name person

yea they "trained" at park city in that video and that was like a week before which is plenty of time to find someone who had trained more. they could have invited like ian cosco or tom wallnutzzzzzz or someone like that.

i got same response aussi. In a comp u should always try to win its what competition is all about. well normally, skiing is a totally different sport and if espn wasnt just a bunch of dicks, and we did see the footage, this arguement would be totally different. there efforts went unnoticed so in my eyes its really espn whos taking away from other skiiers. hope any of that makes sence im sick and reallly cant think straight

does anyone know if they are being invited back? as for taking anyone's spots the xgames dont invite no name kids who have yet to blow up. they would've take some kids spot if they did it at the open.

im not saying its a no name, just people who havent been invited before and arent that well known. for example, think about colby west. this was his first year at x and he podiumed and now is very popular in the ski community. pk hunder could have been invited too.........

they judge more on diffifculty is what Im guessing. I mean i think the perfect run for an X games slopestyle winner would be a run that is done switch the whole run with cork nines being the smallest spin and 450 ons being the lowest spin onto a rail. It obviously has nothing to do with style. I mean no sketchy landings and you have a good run.

If you think about it, its kinda like gymnastics where they judge based on difficulty and a stuck landing not style.

II think the reason why Tanner won was because his run was more technical than Dumonts even though Dumont threw the 12. I mean Thall was droppin in switch and went straight to a switch 10 no one else did that.

Basically Skiing in the X games has turned into Arials and Gymnastics, Pep and Andy obviously are neither, there just amazing at skiing and have too much style to win the X games.

sure it is because if you dont do anything new it isnt considered progression. but sure its gonna be more floated because its 2 spins less than the other one. just because its floated doesnt mean its stylish. if someone does a cab ten with a tail to mute grab with out any flailing your saying it isnt gonna be as stylish as a 3?

You could argue that a cork 3 is harder to get steezy, and it's usually true. When someone pulls a 10, the fast rotation covers any missed/not held grab or flailing that the skier does, whereas the cork 3 is such a slow rotation that if you miss the grab or flail, everyone will tell and it'll look bad. That saying though, I wouldn't through a 10 out of a competition or through a 3 out, but rather have a huge variety. I think variety is key in skiing. One run should consist of things like slow cork 3's, sw 10's, soon to be double flips, a gnarly 5, and etc, not 10 after 10 after 10.

The X Games invites the best skiers.  Pep and Andy are some of the best.  If you get invited you can do whatever the fuck you want.  Pep and Andy showed everyone whats up with skiing so quit your bitching about "more-deserving" skiers.  Skiing shouldnt even be about the Xgames so who the fuck cares if their run wasnt spin to win.  that being said... bring out the footy

yeah honestly his run was so sick. but also on the other side i do think andy and pep had a place cuz both are hella good and have their own style. and i honestly like the style as much as technicality.
