Science Channel, Anybody getting this?

As I type this, a voice on the Discovery Science channel is telling me that I will almost certainly die of bird flu. I guess, since they want it to be, all the talk about H5N1 is back. Thoughts?
I have one thought. I can't stand how all the stuff on those channels, History, Discovery, Science, etc, is made for TV. It's all blown out of proportion to make it look crazier than it is. Ice Road Truckers for example, if it were as dangerous as they want you be think its the chopper would never land on the ice to check its thickness in the first place. Sure people die and its dangerous, but honestly. Man vs. Wild, that guy got owned. Survivorman, we dont give a shit about how careful you have to be of black mambas if you are dumb enough to stick your camera in a random hole which happens to be a hornets nest. If it were as dangerous as that guy makes it sound he wouldn't do it.
Note: I watch Survorman, Ice Road Truckers, etc for their entertainment value, not because they are the most realistic representation of what stuff is really like. I can no longer tolerate Bear Gryls. (sp)
Fire away, just not at me.

I agree that it is over dramatic, however, that being said I still think that it is still pretty good informational programing. It is certainly a better food for your brain than say fat camp or any of the other shit that is on the rest of TV. Thats not to say that 20 minuets on wikipedia woulden't net the same ammount of knowledge as an hour long discovery program.
Its also important to remember that they are there to make money and provide information. Without the money no information. So I would rather have a dressed up show than read wikipedia expecially when I am relaxing watching some TV.
I would say that 90 percent of my tv watching time is spent between discovery and history. Being an engineer I really like watching how its made also there are a ton of shows on history that I watch all the time. Like modern marvels, engineering disasters, and shit like that.
So long story short look through the shit programing on discovery and history and look at how much information really is there on a daily basis. I watched this thing on Columbus today and it blew my mind, turns out I knew nothing about the man who was one of the first Europeans to explore the Americas.
You should turn your hate to networks like mtv and reality tv which is just horrible mind numbing experience.

sorry for the double post.
I watched the show oil sweat and rigs a lot and that is over dramatic but extremely realistic and I know that from first hand experience. Also the show Tuna Wranglers was really cool if that is ever on again you should check it out.
