blk mrkt mob is good. i really like the giant stp those are so light but those might come stock. Kona makes good hardtail frames that are beefy.

i've looked at the Santa Cruz Jackal and Chameleon, Azonic Steelhead, and Sinister DNA
weight is a big issue, it needs to be light

this will also be used for sngle speed racing/cyclocross, so a versatile frame would be the best
also i'd like to spend less than $400 for the frame

nsmb.com, always cheap .243's there and they're light and strong. Definately don't go with an azonic steelhead, they're frames have crappy welds and break all the time. Cove, blk mrkt, .243, giant, trek, cannondale etc. they all make strong, good frames.

i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go with the azonic
does anyone know how much it weighs?
also, should i go with dirt jumping forks or freeride/XC forks?
who makes some good ones? (preferably adjustable 100-160 ish)

your looking into a bike that doesn't really work well. you said you are going to race cross, xc or whatever, but really a mob would suck for that. Aluminum hardtails work for MOUNTAIN BIKES, but are usually a little tall for a good street whip. The mob is a great street bike but isn't that awesome for riding off road, you can do it, but the angles are off. the steel head is designed around running a dual crown fork if needed, so the head angle will be pretty slack for a street bike too. a real street bike is tiny, and should have a 12-14 inch seat tube max. look for chainstays around15-16 inches at the most, and never run a fork bigger than 100. that being said, if you want a freeride hardtail, which is less of a bmx bike, you should be able to run it geared or not, and have it a lil taller. it won't be that dialed for street though, but you can run a longer fork.
i can hook you up with a basically new brodie holeshot frame, sized small 14'', painted custom copper, and a marzochi 4x fork for about 600 if you want, that's about as utility hardtail as you're going to find. lemme know.

nah dude, the mob is awesome i ride one a lot, my whip of choice is a dmr transition though.... I wouldn't prefer it as a bike for anything other than street, park, djs, but if you rip, the mob works on anything.... the 71 degree head angle, and low bb, can get just a little rude for someone who is asking about this kind of bike. Know what I mean?
