Symetrical ski question

I was wondering if it is possible to mount bindings back on a symetrical ski. For example the EP pro or invader. Will the turning performance be totally off if its mounted back a few centimeters from true center?
ANy imput would be great!

I'm pretty sure the EP pro isn't symmetrical. You're probably thinking of the anthem.
It would change performance. It would be bad for riding switch, but it might stop some tip dive in powder.

However, the sidecut is meant for a center mount, so why would you want to fight the sidecut? You would probably be better off with some other ski if you wanted to mount back.

 id mount them center or get a different ski. you could also just go with a longer ski

If you don't mount them centre, that fighting the technology. Ifthey're mounted centre, then yes, mount 'em whichever way pleases you.

when you think about it tho, its no worse than mounted a regular ski at center.  you are mounting away from the sidecut so it wont perform the same, so i say if thats what you want go for it i mean people ski standard skis at center all the time.

Why would you mount a symmetrical ski anywhere not in the center? A symmetrical ski is not for you if you dont want it centered.

yes but that is with a traditional ski with traditional side cut. if you are rockin symetrical mount it center. otherwise by a traditional construction ski and mount it anywhere you want between true center and factory mount. factory being better for riding normally and skiing and center usually being better for park/switch.

You're wrong. Even a symetrical ski will ride more stabily forwards if you mount it back of centre. Almost all traditional skis are mounted back of the waist, so it's no different.

With my Addicts, I mounted center.

There is definitely more support going switch than other skis I have used, but I want that switch stability over total forward stability because I spend a lot of time fakie riding the park.

If you do it though, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Mounting a ski 1 or 2 cm back from center isn't going to stop any tip dive in pow. Just one or two cm really won't affect all mountain performance, either, so I'd reccommend just going with the center mount, it'll be rad and you won't regret it.

If you do want to mount it one or two back though, go ahead, it won't affect turning or anything based on the radius. Like said above, I've mounted a lot my skis like 6 to 7 cm in front of the mount point, so it's definitely all good whatever you do.

yeah i got the invaders and the meelees and there supposed to be true center.

there would be no point to buying a symmetrical ski if you mount it back.

This is sort of a weird question - Mounting away from center shouldn't mess up much, but if the ski is symmetrical, why would you do anything other than mount center?   If the issue is wanting a Line ski but not wanting a pure symmetrical park ski, go for the new Chronic or the Chronic Blend - both will be better for general all mountain use than the invader or anthem - particularly if you are going to be skiing powder.

Not that there is anything wrong with the invaders for general use - I ride my park skis (center mounted  invaders) for general on piste skiing (i.e. - when I am with gaper friends and family).  If there is soft snow, they stay in the car, however.
