The hardness of choise (park ski)

Well I need new park skis for this winter.
I'm 5'11" tall and 147 lbs heavy.
As I live in Finland we don't have basicly anything else worth skiing exept park so that's what I do 90%-95% of my time while I'm on skis. Of course I sometimes go powder or all mountain but that's very rarely. About stiffnes the scale of it would be something like 5/10 - 8/10 if 10 is stiff and 0 is spaghetti.
About the size of the ski I'm not sure which wouldbe best 175 or 180? If I get long skis they're more stable but the spins will turn slower, and the skis are harder to controll. If I get short skis it's easy to spin and controll but i's not so stable. :P What to do? :D
I started newschool skiing last winter so I'm kinda a beginner. I can do 360 with some grabs and also rail some easy rails. I'm really going to ski alot this year and practise hard.

I've been looking these 7 skis, say what you think about them and tell me which would be good size :P

if you are looking for a stable ski with minimal swing weight, scratch fs/ghetto might be good

but why no salomon skis?

Personally I like the trouble makers out of those skis. The only drawback of the trouble maker is their base isnt so strong on rails. As for size, its really gonna be what you like better, but I personally like bigger skis a lot better just because i feel more comfortable under foot.

Looks like you've slimmed it down to a good selection of all-round park skis.

You can't go wrong with 'em. This year's Troublemakers look promising, the AR6's have always performed, and Rossi had some great skis last year, so hopefully the Ghetto is an upgrade.

im about the same kind of skier as you just started park really, and i got some centermounted ar6's, skied them one day at mount hood in the summer and i can't wait to ski them this winter.

i looked at the freeskier magazine buyer guide and they said all those skis were an excellent choice.
but mostly the rossi, ar6 and walls stood out for me.

i have had 4 pair of dynastars in my day (2 troublemakers, 2 concepts) and the edges on all of them sucked. other than that they werefun skis

i have thr same problem as you i cant pick which skis to get :D

im still thinking aobut either the rossi scracth ghettos or volkl walls.

out of those three the anthems are the softest
but if you like soft and buttery i'd go for those in the largest size, 178 ithink

Yeah. So AR6, Reno Jib, Wall. What are the stiffnes scale of those? I'm not sure is the AR6 100% symmetric but does it matter that much even in switch ridin'?

yeah they softened them up a bit this year, they're not noodles but you can actually butter on them now

without reading the other posts, i think you would be good with a 175cm ski and something probly 85mm wide under the boot. fatter or skinnier depending on what you like. personally i like fatties for park. i think you would also be really happy with the rossi ghetto's.  good luck

out of ur choices I would narrow it down to the volkl wall and AR6
go wall if ur sure ur going to centre mount and if u know u want a pretty stiff ski
AR6 if u dont plan to centre mounting and think the wall is too stiff

Yep, don't get the AR6's if you want to center mount (which you should), go with the walls instead.  Mounting an unsymmetrical ski like the AR6 doesn't work the same as a symmetrical ski, it messes with the side cut and performance.  The walls are super sick skis, you can't go wrong with them.

Yeah. Volkl Wall 177 or Moment Reno Jib 181. Both are symmetrical and I do plan to mount center.
I'd like to know which is stiffer wall or reno jib? Also the Anthems 178 are looking nice but darn they perhaps are too soft.

Fuck this is hard... :D

The Reno Jib are stiff, for sure. I'm not sure how they compare to the Wall, though.

All the skis are good, but each have their good and bad points.

If you go for the Reno Jib, go 181, because 171 is way too small.

Dynastar's edges have always been a weak point.

The AR6's have always been popular, and the Wall's are new for this year, after some good skis from Volkl last year.

They are not really that stiff more like a rossi scratch flex.

I'd say go for 181 scratches gtho, and mount them smack right in the middle.

Definitely! They are good all over.

I personally like a tough enough ski that can handel any aspect of the park or the entire mountain.

I got the Ar6 this season but il be doin some other things other than park as well (80% park). THe wall sounds like an awesome park ski cause its symetrical and got killer ratings in Freeskier (if you take that into account)

Hmm atm Moment Reno Jib (181cm) is sounding the best. Only thing that it might me hard and complicated to get them to Finland. :O Also the company is new and the shipping and all when ye buy from internet.

Volkl Walls are sounding great too, think I'm gonna get these as I can buy these from a shop, if the Moment skis are too hard to get. :F

Well, $420 USD is around 300 Euros... + VAT (I'm assuming 15% here) = 345 Euros (not including shipping).

Although, the Åland Islands in Finland are exempt of taxes. ;P


I'm sure you can get the Volkl Walls much easier

yo man the anthem is really heavy... i was at my shop and picked up the 178 anthems in one hand and then picked up the 185 ARVs and the anthems were sooooo heavy compared to the larger ARV..they seem like sick skis with sick ass flex but they are heavy which would possibly slow down your spins depending on how strong of a skier u are
