ok so driving through town tonight i was beside my friend in the center lane, he was on the left in a left turn lane and didnt know i was going straight. so i told him to just duck out in front of me when it turned green and everything will be fine. so it turns green and he goes straight instead of left. out of nowhere a power hungry city cop rolls up, blips his siren and pulls him over. he got a citation for illegal lane change. but here is the best part, he drives a honda with an h22 and open headers, if you dont know, thats fucking loud, even at idle. so the cop also gives him a citation for revving his car too fast...yes, too fast because he revved his car to get it moving because we were on a hill, and also revving it too loud at high speed, which is absolute bullshit. he also got one for negligent driving and he got an order to get his exhaust fixed within a month. now i can see the illegal lane change thing, but i mean revving your motor...you have got to be kidding.

So challenge it in court genius. If that's what really happened they're not just going to tell you your engine is too loud, there's no law against having a loud car provided it's safe. If the judge takes your side, and if you feel like it, file a suit for malicious prosecution. Those are always fun.

That's pretty silly man. You can't challenge something like that unfortunately... unless it's a CHARTER CHALLENGE! I want to represent some dude and go through with a charter challenge... it'd be hilarious to have the AG intervene and kick the crap out of me.

I remember reading this when i was looking at noise voilations for stereos in your car. There is a similar law...
In most states, modifying the muffler for the explicit purpose of making it louder is illegal. In all states, disabling the catalytic converter is illegal.
SEMA had successfully lobbied to rewrite the noise code in California that has stifled law enforcement, as it now forces police officers to measure exhaust noise than effectively abate it. Officers must measure exhaust noise with a decibel meter using the dB(a) standard, which does not measure low frequency noise.
Citations are often challenged in court because the meters must be certified and calibrated for its readings to be used as evidence. In addition, police officers must be properly trained to use the expensive equipment. The result is that less motorists are cited for noise violations.
Another enforcement measure is called 'plainly audible standard' that allows an officer to determine noise levels. In New York City, noise offenders can be cited if the exhaust noise is plainly audible at 150 feet.

thats what im saying. i know people who rev the fuck out of loud ass bikes but dont get shit for it. then one cop sees a teenager driving a loud car and automatically pulls him over and says his car is loud. im not saying he had no reason to pull him over because the lane change was illegal, but still, revving your car is a joke.
