I am new to the area and am wondering which mountains around the bay have the best backcountry? I am used to baker/whistler/crystal and have no idea which mountains in the area to ride.
If you're talking about Tahoe then there is Castle Peak or Donner backcountry...
or if you're REALLY hardcore, and really good at mountaineering Euro style (which is the REAL backcountry) check out desolation wilderness, or mokelumne wilderness.
So true. And I am for sure gonna hit the train shed this year. Was gonna do it last year, but the snow was way sticky when we were out there. A drop then would have resulted in an over the handlebars for sure.
yeah.. i only hucked the sheds once all last season.. and that was STILL back in 2006... god last season sucked for BC.
but yeah.. even when I DID do it, it wasnt very great, other than the "HOLY SHIT I COULD DIE" thrill that you get with those landings, it wasnt very forgiving.
