Well, we are on the very cusp of opening, and we hate to miss the Thanksgiving Holiday, but with this high pressure system sitting here we have to hold off till we get a bit more snow.
For all you backcountry hikers and snowplayers, Heather Meadows Day Lodge will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 am - 4 pm with food & beverage service, and the Heather Meadows Retail & Repair shop will also be open.
The good news is the high pressure system is supposed to move out on Sunday, and forecasts are calling for 10 - 12 inches of new snow to fall by next Wednesday. That snowfall would enable us to open Heather Meadows and perhaps Chair 5 . . . so stay tuned!!
As of Wednesday morning Nov. 21st, it is currently 33 degrees and bluebird, with 15 inches of snow at Heather Meadows Base Area.
I think friday I might have to go up and do some hiking.
