vanular opening segment in whistler, all kinds of sick urban and some pillow lines. then denver in december (snow storms) and more dope urban with vanular, hornbeck, liam, and travis. really cool locations, some in the ghettos of denver, and some hilarious encounters with locals. then on to island lake lodge with stephen, liam, and travis. cool terrain, not that great of snow but good use of soundbites to explain the scenario (new for level 1). then on to the san juan mountains and utah rainville, decker, marion, emil coty, wiley, and 2 french dudes appear in seggys here. super fun vibe and in classic level 1 style, it makes you really want to go build a booter and ski with your buddies. back to denver for another huge snow storm and more urban stuff. steele, hornbeck, travis, raniville, coker and a bunch of others are in the part. this is where the movie really starts to hit its stride. this goes into the japan seggy and rainville kills it here. i have never seen snow like this and the song works perfectly. this goes into montanta with a really strong segment with wiley, travis, and steele. this is my favorite song and sement from the movie. the vibe is so positive and i think this part captures the essence and the experience of backcountry skiing so well. they head over to crested butte with deck and travis then back to the san juans with decker and wiley. the editing is so tight in these two segments. blue skies, back country booters and really crisp cinematography. i know people think that time lapses are played but the ones used here are so dope and very unique. nice transition into utah with wiley and decker. wiley is amazing in the backcountry. he stomps the shit out of stuff. cool voice overs in this segment too which tell a cool story and explain the situation. keystone park shoot. watching this crew hit perfectly manicured photoshoot park features with helicopter follow cams is something i will never get tired of. it really showcases the size of these hits. wallisch and hornbeck have some great stuff here. on to idaho with wiley, clarke, hornbeck, and philipi. again, wiley blows minds here. switch 9 off a 50 foot cliff with some great voiceover storytelling. clarke stomps backcountry landings. great song and editing here again. spring skiing with liam and rainville at alpine meadows then to norway with stephen and liam. not great skiing (bad snow) but good editing and music. then to eclipse snowpark for a late season shoot with almost the entire level 1 crew. wallisch, ahmet, and adam delorme kill it. for those that have not seen adam delorme ski....it is worth getting this movie to watch him here. he is the epitome of steeze. i got sick of watching zero spins until i saw him doing them last year. on to eclipse and copper for the last song. classic level 1 closer. too many shots to list here...wallich, ahmet, hornbeck, and stpehen crush it. it is one shot after another of banger footy. there is even a shifty straight air here that i rewound a few times because it was so smooth (stephen). I have watched this movie 5 times and it gets better with every viewing. it is, hands down, level 1's best movie.
it is hard to comprehend everything the 1st time through because there is so much techy stuff, but there is no filler...every shot is quality. the colors are crisp, the music is on point, and the vibe is perfect. my favorite movie from this year and in my personal opinion, the best ski film since 1242.
