Replying to My renewed faith in the world and facebook
On Saturday night (or Sunday morning) at approximately 12:40am I was returning home on the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) on the subway. Ironically I wasn't at all drunk but I still made a stupid mistake that usually happens when people are under the influence.
This morning I woke up to go to school and was unable to find my wallet so I retraced my steps and realized that I had not seen my wallet since I took a TTC ticket out of it on Saturday night. Immediately my mind began to imagine that it was probably in the hands of a theif because I have generally lost faith in the goodness of most strangers due to the image the media portrays of the city and the world in general.
By the way, my wallet also contained my G1, health card (apparently a bitch to replace), some CA$H money, coupons, gift certificates, and my debit card.
I arrived home today and called the TTC lost & found only to be told that nothing had showed up yet. I reluctantly returned to my room and started checking the usual sites on the internet; facebook being one of them.
When I opened up facebook and checked the new message that I had I was shoked and amazed to see this:
Hay Colin ,
Can ' t tell by your profile picture if it is you but if you lost your wallet drop me a line ( found on the subway )
Damian
I just sent him a message back and I decided to write this on here cause it has definitely cheered me up. I am also reminded of how my friend lost his cellphone the same way a couple of weeks ago and was lucky enough for it to be returned to the TTC lost & found.
I think two things come out of this. I have realized that you definetly cannot judge a book by its cover nor a city by its media (corny i know) and that guy is going to get a hell load of karma coming his way.
