How to bio?

Anyone here know how to set the rotation for a bio?  Is it like the opposite of throwing a cork or what.

for a cork...if you spin to the left and want to cork, you drop your left shoulder, for bio...if u spin left...you drop your right shoulder...basically you are falling forwards while spinning...i can do them into pools i will links a vid in a sec.

Yeah. Act like you're playing hockey and are about to check someone with your right shoulder (assuming you spin left). It'll put you forward. Take it from there.

ppl play corks and bios liek their so easy and all u do is drop ure shoulder and then youll go cork and end up strait again, i cant bio but ppl always told me about how with corks u jst drop ure shoulder, but now i can do them and its so much more so im sure bios are a little more then just dropping ure shoiulder and hoping for the best

There really isn't much that goes into any of it. For a cork 7 if you throw it right, and tuck up into a ball it pretty much comes around. gravity/physics play a pretty big part in it. As long as you commit to a trick you'll likely bring it to your feet at least.

yea but if u jst drop ure shoulder u dont have the momentum to get back oin axis thats why when i do it i 180and take my right hand and throw it down and to the left and it brings me to my feet but it u just drop ure shoulder u may land on ure feet but its not smooth

to do a bio, u cork your body out but u lead with your head. I do it by throwing my head down, dropping my right shoulder and if I'm doing a 540 I just keep looking over my left shoulder, as in I'm trying to look over my left shoulder at my right ear. and if u do a 5 just keep doin that until u see the landing, and I land switch. if u go all the way inverted your doin an overflip pretty much. and if u don't you can just take it to 720.

CR has a good bio. watch like focused and other msp movies. hes does ones all the way to 1260 in high five by berman I think too, one of those older level1 movies.

It is pretty much the opposite of the cork. Best to try to learn it on a trampoline or diving board first if you can. Here's how I think about it when I'm throwing bio.

1)I approach the lip with a mellow left carve. As I hit the lip, I transfer a bit of weight to my outer edge so I drift right.

2)While I pop, I think of dropping my right shoulder just a bit (not too much, it will make you do more of a rodeo), drifting a bit right, and setting my spin for a fast 7. Also, I try to think of doing a 180, and then looking down over my left shoulder (as you would for a cork, only later)

3)From there, it is all about tuck and grab. The tighter you stay, the quicker you'll rotate and you should come back on axis.

The first few will feel weird but keep at it.

This is what i'd say as advice too. If you're having a lot of trouble with bios, learn misties, and then less and less inverted every time. It's easier than you'd think.

drop your right shoulder instead of left. some find it helpfull carving to the left, popping then dropping your right shoulder.

try it a few times.

so essentially (i spin left) you throw the spin with your opposite shoulder(which would be my right)?

this is how i do em and it works really well...approach the lip normally
If spinning left make sure you pop off of the outer edge of your right ski when you pop...its weird doing it like this but it needs to be done...Next drop your right shoulder and when you get around 180 pull your knees up into your chest. This throws you into the cork. When your ready to get outa the cork, drop your knees and stomp it like you on a step team or some shit

HMMM...don't know if I'd say that.  You're just going to lower your trailing shoulder (right) instead of your lead shoulder (left), which would make you cork.  What does it for me is popping of my right edges, thinking of drifting a bit right, and thinking of leaning my spin forward.  From there, you just tuck and it will complete itself.  It might help to think of leaning your back downhill when you hit 180, if that makes sense.  If I think of a better way of describing it, I'll post again...

There are a couple vids on my profile where I do them and you might be able to see what I mean.  They're called "A Few Laps on my Moments..." and "Shaver Crew Dominating the Sierra Summit Park".  They were just some vids shot as park updates for the mountain's website so the footy and riding isn't outstanding but it might give you the idea. (Warning: there is a very ugly 3 right before one of the bios...)
