Anthems vs. Elizabeths

ok, so im looking for a wider park ski that would be ok in the pow and yet still soft and smooth for butters and rails which i love.

the Anthems seem more park engineered but im worrying about how they will be in the pow.
the Lizzies seem like they would kill pow, but im not so sure about how they could ride the park.

any help?

im kinda tossed up right there. like i dont spin very fast or more than 7. i just dont, yet i love rails and i want a ski that can be really responsive there and really flexy and soft.

about a good 10 solid days of pow a year. but we have alot of chop and stuff.

Brundage, Tamarack. Bogus is dead to me. im like 6' now.

im leaning to the Anthems because of the not 800 dollar price tag.

i was thinking about the Volkl Wall actually. but idk, i dont really like the Volkl feel.

personally in this case i would go for the lizzies.
1. they havent been designed to be center mounted,,,so if you were to mount the anthems center...you would not have as much fun in the powpow. if you didnt mount them center...then you would be changing the entire flew patern of the ski which would mess up your park ridability of the ski.
2.pollard designed them...aka...he kills the park..and the powder.

yeh man i would go lizzies for sure.

Elizabeths are a super fun ski and if ur park isn't ice then their really fun in the park too. However, because of the wide platform it's difficult to get technical ie. switchups spins on and off rails, and big spins. But if you're into mellow park riding and big slow spins then they're definetly the way to go. Really if you live anywhere where it's not icey a lot of the time get the elizabeths

Have you looked at the Moment Melees? There soft (stiff under boot so you still have stability) semetrical, 120 under the waist and they have a nice rocker

im split between the moment reno rockers and line anthem.  Elizabeth's don't seem like the right ski for a 6' guy.  Anthems are moderately wide anyhow.

don't know yet.  either Rochester or Hershey.  if i go to Hershey i may just by some cheap line invaders since there isn't much there.  If I stay where i am ill go with the reno rockers (probably). and if i move to Rochester i will go with the anthems (probably).  I'm going to find out next week so ill start seriously thinking about skis then.

How in the hell do you propose a rockered ski with a 120mm waist for park use? How?

But it's going to be a PARK SKI with pow use when it comes...the Elizabeth is fine for someone that size for park use, the width makes up for the short size, and they are designed to be skied shorter, you have to abandon the normal sizing ideas when talking about this ski.

No dude, on hardpack especially, nothing replaces effective edge length, width has nothing to do with it.

ok i've ridden the melee and the ruby on hardpack, slush, and 3ft of pow(down in nz)...
my melee's are rockered on BOTH tip and tail, but the tip has a little more then the tail
i ride them center mounted and its good
they are soft super light so when you pick them up before you ride them you might think what I thought, "these could be pretty noodely at high speeds and big drops"... but i was fooled, and amazed. once you get in the pow, they are the most off the hook ski. they were actually very stable and i did some pretty big drops on them, and sessioned them on an 80 bc booter. let's just say thats my new favorite bc jumping ski... i would bet my left nut that its lighter then your park ski so you can spin and flip fast if you want to. and it it the easiest ski to land on in the pow.
it's pretty stiff under foot, but super soft tip and tail. so when you land its stable, but it allows your tip, or tail if you land switch, to flex and stay high in the snow.
also skiing switch in freshies on these is orgasmic. and landing switc

I was actually talking about the width compensating for length in terms of landing stability. On hardpack...well it's a fat, soft ski, not ideal, particularly on icy/slick stuff...but I rode my 130s on hardpark no problem.

O I see what you are saying. Yea, that is completely true. The width does really help with landings, but not with carving, width takes away power transmittal to your edges. I would think Reno Rockers or Melees would be aweful in the East. I don't know how anyone could suggest that, you would have like 130-150 cm of effective edge, you might as well ride snowblades.
