Andreas, the pistol flip, the kid that threw the 16...everyone seems to like this stuff. Is it just me or would the NS of old have hated relentlessly on these things? Remember the XGames best trick, when people thought a switch 10 was gay (let alone a 14), and gave mad props to Tron for doing a 360? What happened to that? At this rate someone's probably going to do an 18 this year...is that what you want? IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT!?

Pistol flips are impressive. Switch 10s are impressive. But sw 10 followed by sw 10 followed by sw 10 is boring.

skiing is just in a rapid phase of progression right now. these are tricks that havent been done, and often times are being done with style. A hucked 12, looks alot worse then a 12 that is oozing with style.

i was at the freestyle.ch and i thought it was nice to watch, i mean there were switch 10s, but also cork 10s, double flips, flats and creative spinning axes. style session was dope too, so various grabs and tricks.
after the event i thought that skiing made its way. it was a really creative session and no time to think about spinning to win is bad since there were enough other tricks, still a lot of spins but just not the same stuff over and over as someone said before.

repetitive sw 10's are gay. i like all tricks, no lie, but if 16 of them are pulled in a row, with a sw dub b flip in there for the mix, it gets quite boring

I just looked at your icon and realised you probably come onto this account to start threads that will get people pissed off, just cause it's funny to watch.
But if you're acctually serious, I'll tell you what happened to hating on spin to win.
People realised hating on other skiers who are out there for the exact same reason as them just because they threw a trick that they didn't like is a lot worse than throwing big technical tricks that don't look very pretty.
Now althrough I've cleared this up many times, I'll do it again. My 16 wasn't the shit, I don't think I'm the shit and spinning to win isn't the shit. But what bothers me is when people treat it like it is shit cause it's clearly not. And no I don't go out and huck big spins everyday, cause I'm not even a big fan of them

don't worry i'm still here and i still think spin to win is gay shit..... double flips are still pretty cool, but i'm pretty sure they're gunna be played after this year.... then hopefully they'll finally be comps that are just sick ass small spins, like i would rather see a nice flat or rodeo five then a sw10

What Pep, Andy and Eric are doing is awesome. Just throwing away that idea of hucking, and going for a smoother style. I would rather see a flawless 360, than a hucked out, squirly whirly 1080.

The best big air trick out there right now has to be Charles 12s with the octo grab. He is spinning what many would call too much but he puts a steezy grab into it. Double flips are way worse than like TJs 14s. Andres doesn't do as good of mute grabs as TJ so he should do 12s and smaller.
BIG SPINS + STEEZY GRABS = BEST TRICKS

As far as spin to win. Meh. On NS its almost cliche to argue against it because everyone knows its sorta lame but thats how most contests are won regardless. Maybe in three years it will be different, once skiing has progressed even further. Maybe not haha. Either way, as long as it looks good, thats all that matters. When I first heard about TJ's switch 14 I was disgusted (not in a good way), but then I actually saw how clean it was, I was completely blown away. He made it look effortless. Like he'd stomped the trick a thousand times before. Unreal.

spin to win is still around and will be around forever because judges suck. There is too much personal preference on style for it to ever be gone. One judge might love peps style and give him a good mark while another might hate it and wonder why hes doing easy tricks compared to other skiers.(you cant deny that flat 5s and such are easier than sw 10s or 14s and double flips.)

i think in andrews case with the 16 its legit cause he just did it for fun, he didnt care about winning...so if its not in a comp then its sick to do, actually it always is if its done with style.
