I agree its pro, the idea is classic ea style and its soo realistic compared to tony hawk where u can just jump in and start doing rodeo airwalks without knowing the controls, this takes time to get good. i play the demo for hours on end cause i spent to much on my ipod and snowpants.
i was under the impression SKATE was gonna be like AMPED...whereas each joystick represents each foot...but no...it isn't...and therefore.. me= very disappointed.
that wasn't the control scheme at all in amped.
the only thing that seperated amped from other snowboard games is that they didn't use animations for aerial movement.
like, in "cool boarders" you would press square down to do a backflip, and it would just start the process of showing the movement. in amped you would control the speed, angle, and intensity of your rotation.
then i am thinking of a diff skate/snowboard vid..which i dont know hahaha. it was a few years ago and i only played a few times..but my bf goes on and on about the dual sticks and how sick they were so i will be able to ask him the name of the game and get back to u.
Why in the hell don't these people make a skiing videogame? This a visually impressive game and as mentioned above puts Tony Hawk in his place, the grave.
alright, i knew i was right, it was amped...AMPED 2
it used dual sticks. even says it right here in a review:
the left analog stick is used for turning, accelerating, and braking, as well as for spinning and flipping in midair. Additionally, it's also now used for pulling off butters. Meanwhile, the right analog stick is used primarily for grab tricks. You get a different midair trick by pointing the right stick in one of eight directions, and these tricks may be tweaked by using the shoulder buttons. Since the A button is used for accelerating and jumping, you'll need to quickly slide your hand over from the A button to the right stick, which seems clunky, but actually is a reasonable simulation of how a real-life snowboarder must go out of his or her way to grab the board.
yep there it is. i knew i wasnt nuts. it was amped 2. dual sticks. thank you and good night, ignorant foo!!!! haha.
welll skate is kinda like that. left stick controls your charachter and spins, while the right stick is used foir olies, flip tricks and tweakin grabs.
do you change it to work that way? cuz i just played it at my buddy joel's and you dont use both sticks at all. or perhaps he changed it so you dont?!?!
i cannot stop plaaying this game. you can do mad sick grinds and stuff. if anyone has gotten to danny way's mega park the first jumps are the only place in the game that ive found where you can do doubles. you have to trick the game by jumping a bit early and it spins faster.
Well the right analog stick is used for grabs, not to control each foot, or what you were previously going on about in your PREVIOUS post before this one.
Ignant foo.
So obsessed. My god. I pretty much bought a 360 a couple weeks ago so I could play this game and Amped 2. Skate is mind blowingly awesome. We need to petition EA Sports for a ski game!
while i was playing skate. i was thinking just how difficult it would be to make a ski game like it. In skiing there's so many more variations and options i feel. But i just guess it depends on how realistic you want it.
i play the demo more than i play halo 3. halo 3 got reaaaallly boring and the demo still entertains for hours. everytime i play it i always find new things to do and set up new lines. i played the new tony hawk, god that thing is shit.
While amped 2 uses both analog sticks, they don't control each foot separately. You might be thinking of the "Nail The Trick" controls in Tony Hawk's Project 8 where each analog stick controls one of the feet. Its pretty fucking awesome.
Between Halo 3, Tiger Woods 08, Guitar Hero III coming out, I just don't have the time/money to buy skate right now. I can't wait to get it though. The demo is awesome.
I freakin LOVE SKATE. Stompin' 1080s at Danny Way's Megapark is so sick, and rodeos are awesome. The flickstick is absolutlely revolutionary. Oh and getting to see what bones you've broken after smashing into a car while bombing a hill is dope too.
I think with the success of this first edition of Skate that they will obviously make Skate 2. I bet the sales are through the roof. Everyone that plays it is just like, oh...my...god.
