In that article about Dumont's Empire, Mr.Bishop left a comment saying that there should be a flame war place, where people  could vote. Well, I was thinking that NS could set up a system sort of like youtubes. On youtube, you can rate a comment with a thumbs up, or a thumbs down. It would be sick if we could do that in a forum. Like if some guys got in a debate, we could click a button or something to rate their point in the debate. Then they could tell if they got owned.

idk i dont really like that idea because if someone has a different opinion from the norm it could kind of isolate their post. like if we were debating something and most everyone agreed except one person yet they made a good arguement anyone with a different view would give them the thumbs down even if what they are saying makes sense and portrays a good point. IDK I think the karma system will be good enough.

^ ya if we did have that system, then we would have to rely on people rating it on how good the post's point is not on their own opinion.

maybe if you had to have like a certain karma level to rate posts that would be better.

Yeah the post rating is going to be contained within the second round of changes to the site. So there will be one round released fairly soon, and then working up to the hot spot of the season Paul is going to be adding plenty of new cool features. One of these is going to be some incarnation of thread/post voting... no details yet but the two main goals are to have threads viewable by top rated, and posts count towards an overall karma rating.
