Replying to Outerwear Brands to Carry in Store
Ok, here's the lowdown. I'm looking for a little help.
I manage a small sports shop in a small town. We have two other shops we are in direct competition with. In the most part, these individual shops are able to survive because we each carry our own individual brands which suit our "typical customer".
The shop I work at specializes in skiing, leaning more towards backcountry gear. We carry outerwear like Arc'teryx, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot and OR. We have, in the past, carried Orage and Siver Cartel.
Shop #2 specializes in boarding, particularly higher end gear. For outerwear, they carry Burton and Forum's brands.
Shop #3 carries everything from hockey to golf, but their outerwear sits more in the "affordable/functional" range carrying brands like the North Face and Bonfire.
Basically, we're looking to continue to cater to skiers but we've been losing out when it comes to outerwear. Our brands fit our customers that are out in the backcountry, or our customers who can afford to spend the big $$ on an Arc'teryx jacket. We want to cater a bit more to the younger crowd, while still staying true to providing functional outerwear.
We decided not to go with Helly Hansen, and we used to carry Orage. Who else is there out there that we can consider carrying?
I'm thinking ScottUSA, Sessions, and similar brands to those. I like Orage, but we stopped carrying them because retail prices for Orage are too close to Arc'teryx when with Arc'teryx you get high quality Goretex and lifetime warranty.
