Seth vs. prophet 100 vs. bacon

im 150lbs and about 5'10, ski fairly aggressively but am by no means the best skier on the mountain. I ski about 75% big mountain, and maybe 25% park (i wouldn't use these skis in the park), i will also hopefully get out in the backcountry once or twice and build a jump(nothing too big) or just ski the powder.
the seth is probably the best option but i doubt i will be able to get it, with the prophet 100 i'm wondering how it will be for bc jumps/switch. the bacon i think is too fat and soft and won't do well on any groomers or crud i end up on.
any other suggestions from these companies atomic, head, line, k2, rossi or salomon.

It depends a lot on what you want as a skier. The bacon's and the seths are going to be softer than the prophets. But personally i think the seths are the best all mountain ski out of those three

i don't really know what i want and agree that the seths are the best all round ski but i'm allmost sure i wont be able to get a pair

I am in a similar position and i chose the prophets.
Bacons are not a good all mountain ski compared to seths and prophets.
The Prophet is the stiffest out of the 3 and will be the best on a wide variety of conditions. It won't jib as well as the seth or bacon but you still should be able to land switch as it has a full twin tip.
The Seth this year has a mini rocker and won't be nearly as versatile a ski as years past and will be more keyed toward deep stuff. The prophet skis well on hardpack due to its metal matrix and agresive sidecut but will still rip the pow with its 100mm waist and fatty tips.
I would go with either the Prophets or the Seths.
If your planning on using them to jib a lot go seths, if u wanna charge hard go prophets.

Others skis to look at would be Scratch Brigade (IMO not as good a ski as the prophets or seth) and the salomon Gun would be a decent choice as well.

I dunno then. I haven't been on my new prophets yet but they got stellar reviews everywhere I looked. The graphic this year is awsome as well.

I would not rule out Bacons if I were you. I have them as a one ski quiver and they are sick. The don't really perform in mashed potatoes really well because they are pretty soft, but they carve twice as well as Seths on hard pack.
But I considered the prophet 100 because so many people had good things to say. They are just stiff. All options are great, honestly. If you want soft and intermediate size, go seth. If you want soft with better carving and slightly fatter go SFB. If you want stiff go with the 100s

The prophet 100 is a great big mountain/all mountain ski. They do everything well. I actually own a pair, so I know what I am talking about. I ride them whenever I am not on dedicated park/pipe skis or superfat prophet 130s - maybe 40% of the time. They run fast and stable, yet turn quickly in the trees, float nicely in powder and power through crud. I think every review on NS (of 5 or 6 individual reviews) gives them a 10.0 - including mine, naturally.
In summary, I am pretty confident you will like the prophet 100. Don't be nervous about going with these skis.

dont back away from the bacons... i bought a pair last year as my deep stuff only ski, skiied em one day an on laps back from the backcountry, they were incredibly fun on hardpack. i liked to ski them more than my chronic wides tbh. just because they are big n soft doesnt mean thats a bad thing. im 5'10'' and 150 and they are in no way too soft. because of the tapered tip/tail they behave like a a much shorter ski on hardpack. and needless to say they slay the deep... oh and theyr light too. get them.

Are you just going to have a one-ski quiver? If so, prophets.

oh i see, well if you have other skis that are for non pow days, you may want to consider the bacons then.

ya i'd probably ride whatever i get even if theres only like 5-10 cm of fresh.
what about for bindings? i'm debating on weather or not i should get the naxo alpine touring things or not. theyd be good for going werever but i'd need to get me some skins too.

that's a difficult decision to make. I'd say dukes would be better. Don't know if you'd want to tour on that fat a ski, it's a question I have pondering as well. I can't really recommend the naxo's though, especially if you are going to ski hard on them inbounds. My friend broke his twice pretty bad last season, and he was just skiing!

can you get inserts that you just clip into your binding and then you like strap into them or something? also why not tour on skis that wide?

yea but much heavier than a dedicated at setup and harder to use. You have to decide how much backcountry you are going to be doing, and what kind, that'll help.

well i don't know alot about backcountry, kind of just getting into it. might go on a couple day trip with my uncle(who is not an agresive skier, but does some touring). probably hike out the back of our resorts. but ya don't know alot about it or were to go, but want to get in to it.

a pair of skins for a pair of bacons is gonna cost you a good bit just fyi. i wouldn't tour on bacons but that's just my opinion.
btw mine just got mounted and are sitting in front of me waiting for the snow to fall. can't wait to get one them.

Go to TGR to read about Dukes. Huge thread on them there. Same thing with skins.

if you want do a bit of touring here and there i think the duke would be perfect. much more sturdy than naxo, diamir, fritschi etc.
as for skis, seths are quite heavy to skin on but do suit your purposes well.
Your best options in my view would be (in no particular order)
179 Seths
178 Brigades/BCs
182 VCTs
182 Guns
183 Pimps
179 Prophet 100s
181 p4s
183 Gotama
i.e. basically anything between 95 and 110 in the waist and around 180 in length. these would all be fine, its just up to you how stiff you wanna go...
Seths and Guns softest through to prophets/Gotamas stiffest. All the rest in between.

You probably won't get more advice than what you already got.
Whatever you get will prolly rip, they are all nice skis.
