Dan rather is....the man?

i'm glad somebody said something.

Rather is an idiot. He said Boeing's new airplane is unsafe because its made of a composite and not aluminum. Now if Rather had an aerospace engineering degree instead of a journalism degree I might listen to him. Until then he's just a crazy old guy thats pissed that he can't keep up with real reporters anymore.

i think what he meant by its more unsafe is because when an aluminum hull say gets a fracture or a hole( a size that wouldnt bring the plane down) it would still be able to fly and find a landing strip asap were as the new composite frame would it suffer any damage would splinter causing the plane to break apart and crash crash crash.

I have to agree with the dude that you quoted... Let the engineers and scientists judge that stuff they know way more than we do

no buts its true...my dad is an engineer working on the 787

but regardless it is still ABOVE the safety standards just not as high as past designs

So he is not entitled to an opinion?  Quit putting engineers up on a high pedestal, they are not Alien intellectual mini Albert Einsteins.

Besides, this is about POLITICS, where I imagine Dan Rather knows alot about how the mainstream media portrays what they want, how they want.  He has worked for them since before you were born you know. Im really Glad more people are shining a light on this political bullshit and actually telling the truth.  If you didnt know, older people tend to know alot more about how the world works than the younger generation.  So respect their opinion.

i met Dan Rather after 9-11 cause some of my family members were on tv documentary thing about it... he is a really friendly man. he has breathing problems and had to do all these special excercises before goin on the air.
